Coming off the tube this morning, going up the escalator, I saw an advert on the wall. I'm not sure what it was for, but it showed a long pair of sleek female legs and that was it.

Someone had improved the ad immeasurably by adhering a fairly large bright red sticker to the poster with the words "sexist shit" in capitals on it

I left the tube like this [grin

Good work. (Wasn't me...)

it wasn't me - but that's FAB! That would have cheered up my day no end.

It wasn't me, although when living in london I did used to walk around with a red marker in my pocket, for this very purpose. Wish I was back there! With stickers! maybe if we meet up at the feminism conference we could have stickers, and go on a rampage?

wasn't me either. Have been thinking about stickers though.
I have added to pro-mooncup graffiti but never stickered....

ROFL @ going on sticker rampage after feminist conference

It is pretty good isn't it. I should google it later when I'm not at work, might find out whose sticker it was!

Where can one procure such stickers?

Report
msrisotto · 14/07/2010 17:34

OMG I need a collection of these stickers.

Report
sethstarkaddersmum · 14/07/2010 17:37

I wondered if one could print them on one's computer

any ideas for slogans gratefully received.

I think something that generally just advertises feminism would be good; also something one could stick on plastic surgery ads.
The adverts inside the doors in women's toilets would be prime stickering territory - what sort of ads do they tend to be?

(wonders whether thread will need to be deleted soon.)

msrisotto · 14/07/2010 17:49

Why would it need to be deleted?

I was horrified by the posters in the tube stations, by the escalators telling me I needed to get botox for my wrinkles, laser for me leg hair and plastic surgery for my boobs! On ONE escalator!

cos sticking stickers over adverts on the tube or elsewhere could quite possibly be counted as criminal damage.

Report
msrisotto · 14/07/2010 17:55

oh yeah, I thought it was conscientious objecting

It is, but if you got caught and they decided to make an example of you you might end up with, I dunno, an ASBO or something!

Report
msrisotto · 14/07/2010 18:17

Much as the idea appeals, the professional implications of having an ASBO would be dire sadly.

Report
sethstarkaddersmum · 14/07/2010 18:23

Is there cctv on the tube? Toilets are probably pretty safe.

ISNT · 14/07/2010 20:07

I had a look on the way home. Others had been stickered too. they were the laser your leg hair ones, and also the ones for breast implants had the stickers stuck right in the middle of the cleavage

Sadly I have to concur though that stickering the underground is a vandlism type activity and thus not to be undertaken lightly

Of course none of us would ever do it, we are all far too scared. As mothers we have too much to lose. We are merely fantasising.

Report
msrisotto · 14/07/2010 20:15

I'm not a mother.....currently I only have a cat to lose....

ISNT - I love that someone stickered the posters I was hating!

Report
sethstarkaddersmum · 14/07/2010 20:17

but you are a respectable law-abiding citizen. As is your cat.

Report
ISNT · 14/07/2010 20:24

It can sometimes be a bit wobbly on the escalator and you have to steady yourself with your palm on the wall

No you're right I'm too scaredy.

Any new stickers that appear will have nothing to do with any of us.

Aah yes of course, I do love my cat too, I'd hate to jeopardise our very cushty relationship.

I will do no stickering.
