If you suffer from under boob/belly sores, what do you use?

As a big lady, although I shower daily and am meticulous with personal hygiene, my skin chafes under my boobs and belly roll and sometimes causes sores. I've been using Cuticura lightly medicated powder, which has helped, but its very messy. Just wondering if anyone else out there has this problem and if so, what do you use? Thanks.

Sudocreme under breasts every day. Also a clean bra every day.

I suffer with the under boob. I get a rash the whole underneath of the boob, little bumps that are red, sore and itchy. I have a large bust and sometimes I feel like putting a towel under them. I have to wash every morning (I do anyway) but evening too now otherwise it can smell. I have had abseces too and it's just down to big bust, skin rubbing. I tried so many creams even the sudo crem as mentioned above but it irritated it more and left a foul smell.

I went to my gp and it got sorted in a matter of days. I have to use a hydrocortisone cream every morning and night after washing, this can be bought over the counter, there's many brands and the one recommended by the gp was HC45 (made by the makers of E45 - same colour tube). However I did find other brands just as good. When the rash gets sore and raw, I was told also to use Canestan cream, the one you use for thrush. As the rash under your boob is a fungal infection.

When I first got the 2 creams I was pretty bad under my boobs, so I put the Canestan on first after a shower, then later I used the hydrocortisone cream, then I just used the 2 together, the doctor has said they could be used together, it felt weird doing this but just did it. I did this for 3 days and under my boobs cleared completely. There was nothing there. Because it went, I stopped using the cream but the rash came back, so started all over again. What I was meant to do was clear the rash with the 2 creams and then when it was gone to just use the hydrocortisone cream on its own every day, I just use it now once in the morning even if no rash, the skin is so soft now.

The other thing is, your bra will need to be changed every day and washed, the doctor told me the fungal infection rubs into the bra and stays alive and re infects if you don't wash it. I tried and wore every bra under the sun, under wired are not recommended but I like them and now I can wear them with out any problems. It's a total pain washing the bras, but you'll see yourself if you don't when you wear it again the rash comes back.

I get this on my stomach and sometimes behind my knees as well oddly. Have tried everything, over the counter and prescription wise. Have now perfected treatment when it happens, daily showering, making sure the area is dry and then applying a layer of sudocreme.

Can you say in posts if you use shower gel or good quality soap? I had this problem for about 8 years in my forties. Red raw and I needed canestan (didn't work) and sudocrem. I was using shower gel. I switched to soap from TKMaxx made from vegetable oil. The rash was gone in days. Has never returned.

I use shower gel and soap. Public region, under arms and under boobs is soap. I just use Palmolive or Dove

I used athletes foot powder) spray to get it under control. Nowadays I squirt a quick spray if antiperspirant-deodorant under my boobs and a dusting of baby talc.

Soontobe60 – Thanks for the second recommendation for Sudocreme. I do already wear clean bra daily.

Lipz – Yes, a rash with little bumps that are itchy. Thanks for explaining how your GP helped you. If the Sudo doesn’t work or worsens the situation for me, as it did for you, I will try a hydrocortisone cream and possibly get some Canestan if necessary, too. I do wear a clean bra daily but had no idea that a fungal infection can rub into the bra and stay alive and re-infect if the bra isn’t washed. That’s just…grim.

Pineapplemonkey – Appreciate your vote for daily showering, making sure the area is dry and then applying a layer of sudocreme. Seems as if Sudo is a favourite for this kind of issue.

DianaT1969 – I’ve never used shower gel, just Johnson’s baby soap until it became unavailable for some reason so now I use Cuticura mildly medicated soap bar; it’s blue and rinses well off. It’s the only soap that I can use to wash my face and my skin doesn’t get tight and uncomfortable, and I sometimes forget to use moisturiser for that reason! There’s a TKMaxx store in my town centre so I can get there. Is it their own brand of soap made with vegetable oil?

Thank you all so much ladies for responding. I didn’t expect so many replies. I’ve noted everything and if Sudo doesn’t work, I’ll try the other suggestions in turn until I find something that does suit me and if not, and hopefully with further easing of lockdown, I may be able to get a GP appointment and get it checked out.

**JoleneExotic - Asda liquid talc? Not familiar with that but will go and check out their site!

**MrsMoastyToasty - so Athletes Foot Powder spray actually got your rash under control? I would never have even thought of using that! So glad that all you need to do now is spray APD and add a little talc :-)

Thanks, everyone. I'll see how I get on and come back and let you know in a week or two if there's any significant improvement with the Sudo.

Sudocreme is good, but I also found ditching bras with wires helped. I’ve actually just got M&S flexifit crop tops which are amazing for having nothing to rub or irritate your skin. I think if you were large of nork they may not be enough though.

3bs cream and canestan

I get under boob rash in hot weather. Canesten is great when it gets too bad, not often. I wash under boob and under belly (I'm fat!) every day in the shower with bar soap - Tesco basic is great. I then use dove stick deodorant liberally in all rubbing areas.

I'm allergic to sudocrem but use canesten when/if needed - in hot months can be every fortnight for a couple of months, in cooler times much less, if at all.

I'm also proven to UTIs, and the antibiotics tend to give me thrush. I use canesten combi with the pessary, and when it starts I also give my folds a lick of cream, otherwise I can pass the thrush back and forward between skin folds and vulva.

Make sure the area is properly dry before you put any cream on. At work we use a hairdryer for this sometimes

Canesten hydrocortisone is enough to clear mine - it's a godsend.

I use medicated talc every day, and then the canesten hydro when I need it.

Don't use hydrocortisone daily, it will really thin the skin over time, think 7 days is the maximum. You can also get a talc (Daktarin) that has antifungal added and it's a good prevention.

I'm not a big lady, I'm average build with larger than average boobs. Where they sit on my chest there is no air underneath and I suffer from psoriasis to boot. The area under the boobage gets red and sore and the skin peels off like thin paper leaving it red raw and sometimes smelly.
I cure it by showering more often, and putting Betnovate skin cream on the sore bits. This is what the doctor prescribes for the psoriasis and it is excellent. When it clears up I use talc in between. Hope this helps

@Jannabear - I buy Handmade Italian Soap made with vegetable oil from TKMaxx. Large bars around £4. I don't see them online but found them on Pinterest. Unfortunately MN don't let me add photos from my android phone for some reason. The soaps are scented with lemon or citrus mix.

Is liquid talc safe to use - I remember ordinary talc had possible links to ovca.

I shower daily, use Nesti Dante soap, dry thoroughly, then go over my creases with the hairdryer on cool. Then apply sudocrem. If I do get a rash then I use clotrimazole cream which clears it up in a few days.
Clean bra every day, I prefer non wired ones, with the stretchy comfort bras under pyjamas.

It's grim tbh Blush

I've never actually looked into it so good question on the ingredients. I assumed like real talc powder it's not actually talc anymore?

It's in the baby section and very popular and sold out usually. Packaging is white to help you find it.

When I went for a routine mammogram some time ago with very sore under boob rash, I was advised to use athletes foot cream but never talc. Worked brilliantly and quickly. It's something to do with the fungal infection being in a warm, damp place ( yuck!!).

Treat with canesten then once it has gone wash thoroughly with soap in the shower, dry properly, bit of baby powder and then spray with anti perspirant.
Works a treat.

When I get sore under my boobs I use germolene. I swear by it for everything (it's not quite as good as when years ago when it used to be proper pink, but it's still really good I find).

Athletes foot cream or tea tree oil when sore. Badger baby balm for prevention.
It also helps to wear soft viscose underwear like these sexy numbers Grin
