Mirena Coil Side Effects

Hi all,

I had the Mirena Coil fitted 2 months ago, 10 weeks after having DS2, so far I've not noticed any benefit from it, I've had painful (crampy) bleeding every day since I had it fitted, spots on my face and notice my hair is very greasy, even straight after washing! Has anybody else noticed similar side effects? Did it get better with perseverance?

I had one fitted to try and relieve heavy bleeding caused by fibroids. It gave me period pains like I have never had in my life before and almost non stop bleeding for over 6 months - some days just spotting which didn't require any form of protection but on average i had a "proper period" for 10 days. i did get a few spots initially but didn't notice much difference in my hair. The damn thing seems to have finally expelled itself from my body during a spell of bleeding and clots that was so heavy i just had to sit on the toilet and let it pour out of me! They do say to give it at least 3 months to settle down, and many people report great things from it but sadly it didn't work for me. I would give it another 4-8 weeks and then see your GP if the bleeding persists.
