Breast Cancer Screening. RESULTS

So I have to have a breast cancer screening done. It's been explained to me that I may need to have one of all of the 3 tests, (Mammogram, biopsy, ultrasound)
And I am absolutely petrified. So far I've found the worst part of this process is the waiting and the unknown part. The fact I had to wait a month to get an appointment with the GP to discuss my concerns, then another 4 week wait for a follow up appointment. Now a 2 week wait for my scans then possibly another 2 weeks after that for my results. Its almost unbearable to deal with the unknown during all of this.
Has anyone had any breast cancer screenings and if so did the doctor give any insight on the day of what they have found? Or do they say nothing and you just wait for a letter in the post or a phone call from your doctor weeks later? I've never been through this before and not that close to people who have been through it that I feel comfortable talking about it with. Thanks Smile

I was referred to the breast clinic in October, the waiting is hideous.

At my appointment I saw a consultant first who examined me, then had a mammogram and was then sent for an ultrasound, they found three lumps on the ultrasound and told me there and then that two were cysts and the other they suspect to be a fibroadenoma. They took 3 biopsies to confirm the diagnosis the results of which I received two weeks later, my colleague who has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer was told on the day of her scan her lump was highly suspicious and they would be surprised if the biopsy didn't confirm the cancer, she had her results back in 7 days.

As far as I can tell you will have a fairly good idea of what you are dealing with by the end of the clinic.

Try to keep busy, wishing you all the best.

I was recalled from a mammogram to the hospital breast clinic and had several more mammograms, ultrasound, and a biopsy done, all on the same day, was a shock as not expecting it.

The hospital phoned me within a week with the results after initially saying it would be a 2 week wait and another appointment at hospital to get results. The waiting is the worse bit, try not to worry, I know it's easier said than done.

Thank you. I'm in the mindset that if it is then ok fine I'll deal with it and I'll do whatever the doctors tell me and if it's not then that's great. I just don't know how to deal with the waiting part of this process. I'm hoping I'll be given some kind of idea on the day because it is hell
