Painful lump on nipple

Hope this is the right place to post!

Back story - I’ve been bfing my nearly 2 year old, now down to once or twice a week at most. Now 5 months pregnant.

Bfing was painful after I got pg so when DS lost interest I’ve not pushed it. Noticed that one nipple was more sore so fed mainly from the other side for the last few weeks. The painful nipple has a red spot on it off to one side which is really painful to touch. I’ve also noticed pain in that breast when I’m cold.

Anyone got any ideas? I don’t want to go to the drs if it’s a normal pregnancy thing, equally don’t want to go and be fobbed off when it isn’t just a normal pregnancy thing! Not seeing the midwife for a few weeks so can’t ask her.

You should go to your doctor so they can rule anything more serious out. It could be something that can be easily treated and you don't have to live with it. It's likely to be something connected to breastfeeding or pregnancy but always best to get it checked out for peace of mind.

Crystal thanks yes I will see a doctor. Annoyingly it's the weekend and we are away until Wednesday - typical. The pain has got a lot worse though so if it's not better tomorrow morning I'll try and get an out of hours where we are staying. Kept me awake a lot of the night, not ideal!

Definitely get it checked if it's worse. I had the same a while ago, not long after I had my son but I wasn't breastfeeding. They said it was hormonal as by the time I went for a breast scan it had disappeared!

How long did it last for? The lump appeared weeks ago but the pain has only really bothered me for the last couple of days! Fucking hurts but not stopped today so not had a chance to ring and won’t be able to get anywhere tonight now. Will phone 111 in the morning.
