Cerivcal eorsion

Hi everyone ☺
So I have had a cerivcal eorsion for just over a year now. And it has caused me nothing but misery 😔. Sorry to be tmi but Ive basically been bleeding the entire time. I've had scans at hosp smears swabs and numerous examinations so Its good to know it's nothing serious. My question is I've been refered to hospital NHS for treatment but the waiting list is over two years. I've have been back to my doctors a few times and they refuse to send a emergency referral. I wouldn't normally ask them to do that but I also have a skin condition which is being made unbearable due to the symptoms of the eorsion I experience 😢. I have priced how much it would be to go private but to be honest I really don't have that kind of money and would have to borrow or put on a credit card if allowed. So has anyone had treatment and is it worth it. I would hate to owe that kind of money if the chances of it working aren't great 😔
My doctor said treatment rarely works 😢 but I don't understand why they offer it if it doesn't. I just cannot wait over two years and i dont think it will get better on its own in fact. It seems to be getting worse well the symptoms anyways i think my hormones are playing a big part in all this as it had settled down for a while but my skin started to break out quite badly recently and low and below the symptoms returned with a vengance. It's having a huge huge impact on mine and OH private life 😂.. So would love to hear from anyone that has had the treatment and there opinions on should i go privately or not i know everyone is different but i would love to hear people's experiences. I should add im getting married in 2021 and honestly can't enjoy the planning or have any excitement because I just think.. Whats the point if I'll be dealing with this the whole thur the planning the hen the wedding the honeymoon it feels ruined 😢
Thank you ☺
Penny x

Oh OP, what a miserable time you are having!

I had Cerivcal erosion a few years ago, it took years for a doctor to take me seriously and the nurse never mentioned it during smear tests etc. However it got to the point where I was bleeding horrifically after sex and starting really worrying that something was wrong. I was referred to the hospital and was given treatment (i believe they freeze the cervix) it worked for a few months but then it did return. Mine was hormonal related from taking the pill. The second time I was referred, it took over a year to receive an appointment and consultant refused to even examine me and sent me away!
I would see another doctor as you should not have to live like this or have to pay to go private.

Thank you for your reply I know I am the same i dont know when my period stops or starts because of it 😔. Mines was caused by giving so muchv different pills over a short period of time they thought my skin condition was due to the pills in the end I came off them all. I would not have left had the Dr refused to examine me how horrible! It really is having a big impact on my mood now 😢

I did refuse to leave, he poked and prodded me, then told me it hadn’t bled, even though there was blood all over his gloves! Told me to go back to my GP or GUM clinic and change pill. I do still bleed after sex but only sometimes and only a little amount.

Definitely get another opinion from another GP, you shouldn’t have to wait 2 years!

I cant even see my gp 😢 just rang to get appointment and she told me there is none and have to ring next Wed then when you ring thr lines be busy untill you finally get thur and the apps are gone for another week 😢 my friend developed one month's after me and she has been seen in hosp allready maybe because she is pregnant tho. I havent been on the pill for over a year because I was told this can cause it. I refuse to live this way it's really effecting my life now and I have noticed a change in myself 😔. If I didn't have this horrible skin condition maybe I could live with it but there are times I have to get mu mum to collect the kids from school because I can't leave my house due to itching and pain. I know the NHS or stretched to the limits but I can see the gyno I've been refered too tomorrow.. If I had the money

Hi op,
Sorry to hear you are having such a tough time. I also suffer but not as much as you. What contraception do you use as this can sometimes cause it

I have an erosion too. I had the treatment (cauterisation) and it didn't work- it made no difference whatsoever. I went through different doctors while they ruled out more sinister stuff and none of them said it wouldn't work; the doctor who did it said cauterisation should fix it and that people had to go back only occasionally.

I am very disappointed it didn't work - it took almost a year and 6 appointments between me going to my gp and having the treatment. Then weeks of no sports, no swimming, no sex, all for nothing! To be fair though my symptoms are slight compared to yours and all the doctors I saw took me seriously and were professional and kind.

You seem to really be suffering OP. Are you at risk of anaemia from the constant bleeding? It sounds as if this is affecting your quality of life and mental health. Another issue of course is that this condition could mask more serious stuff - I could have bleeding precancerous cells and might dismiss it thinking it's the erosion...

It's appaling the way you ladies have been treated Flowers

I havent been on any form of hormonal contraception from this started because the gp told me that that might have been the cause. they had put me on seven different bcps in space of three months because they thought the itching was due to hormones not a skin condition took seven years and constant gp apps before I was finally referred.giving cream that worked wonders. Now this has happened 😢 I have to get my bloods checked to make sure I don't have anemia and yet they won't give me anything to stop it or urgently refere me to see if the treatment would work. I can't even get a app with my gp untill the new year now. I just don't know what to do. Paying to go private would be a huge strain on my finances especially this time of the year

I should add all smears and swabs have came back normal. I stoped bleeding for three days and went straight to my docs explained the situation and demanding a smear which thankfully they give me. I have been to hosp for scan to check ovaries and lineing of womb.. To think I was told cervix looks healthy just two months before this. Honestly at this point I would go thur any operation if there was one. I'm quite a private person so for me to put this on the Internet tells me I'm getting desperate for this to stop

So weird how different my experience was.

I had a cervical ectropion treated under the nhs late last year, GP put it through as an urgent referral & it was seen and sorted within 2 weeks. Couldn’t be happier with the speed at which they dealt with it.

I'm so annoyed I have extremely sensitive skin and any saintary products cause a reaction can't use a moon cup can't seem to get it right tmi I know but because of the constant bleeding I took a few allergic reactions and ended up with 3 referrals to gyno and dermatologist who all agreed sorting the bleeding out would sort the reactions out 😡 gyno was at another doctors and said she would have treated it there and then but they no longer do this procedure and both sent a referral fto the gyno in hospital when I went back to my doctor it was a man who was very unsympathetic and said what exactly do you want me to do its hardly urgent is it and you can have 20 referrals won't make the waiting list go down any more. I rangy doctor on Friday and I have to go for a smear i have had five done in a year anytime the bleeding gets heavy they get me in for a smear it comes back fine and nothing eles is done I've been sent for scans on my ovaries my womb lining all have been fine I've had multiple doctors examine me and givee all sorts of tablets and creams for allergic reactions a few times I've had a appointment were by the grace of god I wasn't bleeding and docs would just go poking my cervix then apologies for causing it to bleed and that would start it for days weeks! Sorry for the tmi but I am so fed up I really thought it had finally gone away and now it's back I'm just so angry and upset 😔 and feel like not one doctor knows how it feels I'm suppose to be getting married next year all being well and Im thinking on canceling due to this as long as weddings can still go ahead.

I should add i have exzema that's why I keep getting reactions when I go to doctors they say it look OK and only took me seriously when it got so bad a secondary infection set in due to the skin being broken. I've appointment on Wednesday which I don't want to attend due to the cornavirus outbreak and of course this is the timey exzema and any reactions associated with exzema is fine lol the doc prescribede norethisterone to take for ten days and it stopped the bleeding so I'm thinking this bleed is my period and what I thought wasy last period was irregular bleeding from thje eorsion 😡

Complain to PALS

Pennythoughts28 · 26/05/2020 14:49

What is that ive never heard of them lol i have an appointment tomorrow which I need to get a smear im dreading it as my last one was less than a year ago. The definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results 🙄. I actually was the one who got to the bottom of what was causing side effects i was experiencing from the bcp years ago. They sent me for scans and bloods and I had to tell them why it was happening by researching myself. Maybe I should have been a gp 🙄

Either complain

  1. To your GP’s practice manager.

Or

  1. To the hospital you visited the gynae at. Search the hospital name and “PALS” online and you’ll find the contact details for your hospital

PALS is the patient advise liaison service

Thank you i have appointment tomorrow for another smear 😢 I'm sick of them but good to know there's nothing more serious going on. I will see the outcome of tomorrow. I build myself up to say I'm not happy with this treatment but normally bottle it and say thank you and walk out then go home and get upset lol

Update smear was unsuccessful due to bleeding doctor apologised for being left so long and urgently referred me as its now my entire cervix just got a phone the head doctor who owns practice won't allow her to send the urgent referal and trying to put me on the pill which I'm sure caused it in first place really upset and tbh heading down a big black hole

My previous advice still stands. Why haven’t you complained to the practice manager or PALS yet? That’s the only way to see action. And consider registering at a new GP practice.

You need to write everything out in clear and concise points too, some of your posts here are rambling so it’s hard to decipher the timeline and issues. From my understanding your untreated problem has gotten worse and one GP seems to be overriding the referral at detriment to your health. There’s a difference between bleeding from periods, and blood caused from touching the cells of cervical erosion.
