I've had constipation for a while. My GP has recommended Movicol. I was wondering if anybody had tried it and if you had any side effects such as bloating or wind? I have tried lactoluse but on even the smallest dose I had bad wind.

I've also tried eating more vegetables, drinking more water and having weetabix and berries for breakfast.

It's better than Lactulose for wind I think. May take a few days to settle into a routine. Another alternative you could try is Magnesium Citrate or Magnesium Glycinate (both good for helping with sleep and anxiety as well).

Movicol is best if you take a daily dose rather than taking it ad hoc

Yes, much better than Lactulose and you shouldn’t experience wind and bloating.

If you’re very bunged up, I’d recommend taking a bigger dose to get things moving (one sachet won’t cut it) and then reducing to a smaller dose to keep things on an even keel.

Thanks for your advice. I took two sachets yesterday and it worked very well. I feel a lot better today Smile
