Frustrated after doctor appt.

I've always had very regular periods, tend to be quite heavy.

Until December this year when I had a 2 week period just after Christmas where I lost so much blood I was anaemic and ill. After that it took till May to have another period and it was very heavy again, the next was mid June and it's lasted since then!

I've been to the doctors and had some blood tests, all fine. But I felt so frustrated with the Dr telling me it was very normal to be irregular like this, i'm 31 so find this odd. She then didn't suggest anything else but the pill - I hate the pill - and losing weight.

Has anyone else had an experience like this?

I'd get a second opinion. I don't think that is normal.

See another GP within the practice.

I would also seek a second opinion from a gynaecologist, do not be fobbed off. You should be checked further to see if fibroids are an issue; these can cause heavy bleeding to arise.

Was the flooding at Christmas a miscarriage? What blood tests did you have?

I disagree with your GP being normal. I think taking the pill might get your cycle back to normal but wouldnt that just solve a symptom?

It's not exactly going to tell you what was wrong in the first place. It could be uterine fibroids, PCOS, polyps, thyroid issue... anything!

I would go back to your GP and say that you are not happy with no diagnosis and require a referral to gynae.

Also, search FEMM health and see if it helps with research.

How much weight do you need to lose to be in a healthy range? Obesity wreaks havoc on your hormone levels, so your gp is correct in advising weight loss.
