I've had a mammogram today and as per the previous ones I've had it hurt like hell! I would generally say I've got a pretty good pain tolerance. I posted on Facebook as a reminder for my friends to do theirs if it's due etc. Some women say it doesn't hurt at all, but honestly it's horrible for me, one time I actually cried. Interested to know others experience. For what it's worth I'm about a small D large C cup. My sister who is way bigger than that was one that said it never really hurts.

And I thought it as quite painful too and heard others say it wasn’t that bad

Mine are a bit uncomfortable but certainly not painful. My last smear however hurt like hell!

I find mammograms very uncomfortable to the point of being painful. On the other hand, I find that smears don't hurt at all.

Whilst not the most pleasant, I would say uncomfortable rather than painful, though I suppose it could depend on where you are in your cycle.I got the letter to say mine was fine today, I’m in some sort of trial programme where they are inviting women a bit under 50 ( I’m 48) for earlier mammograms. I was very grateful to take them up on the offer. No family history of BC but a number of women who I was at school with have been treated in recent years. The trial also identified some early changes for my friends sister which were indicative of BC.

I'm the same size as you OP, and I would say uncomfortable not painful.
Smears though I find horrendous

I have small breasts and it hurts when the plates come down and squeeze hard. However, it really is over in seconds.
The radiographers really do try their best to be really quick as long as you stay still so they get good images. They know it can hurt a bit but as I said, it must last no more than 10 seconds each shot. Quite do-able to put up with that.
