Lactating when I haven’t breastfed for 3 years

I went to meet my NDN’s new baby today. My youngest dc is 3.5 and I only breastfed him for 6 months. I held tiny baby today and he was rooting around and I suddenly felt that let down sort of ache in my boobs. When I came home I had a rummage and my bra is soaked! Is this 3yo milk that has been rotting in my boobs? Information online seems to be fairly mixed, has this happened to anyone else? Is it just my body telling me it’s broody?

You may have a pituitary problem. Go and see your GP. This is not normal hormonal behaviour. Have you been tired/nervous/jumpy/anxious/depressed/lethargic? How is your skin? Hair? Take a list of these symptoms to your GP as well. Suspect you may need a blood test.

I have a prolactinoma which is entirely benign and doesn't have any symptoms. It can make some people make breast milk though so might be worth checking. They are absolutely nothing to worry about though and not an issue.
Equally I know someone who lactated when she adopted and had no hormonal imbalances. Sometimes our bodies do weird things.

You need to see your GP as there could be a hormonal problem relating to the prolactin hormone. It can be treated with tablets.

I have sadly lactated (never had a baby) am intersex so have had many hormone issues.

Ur GP should be able to give you Parlodel which will stop production within a few days.

I live as male now, and not the best fun -
