Sore underboob region! Skin split

I am large of nork, therefore my breasts have a fair bit of overhang. Sometimes it gets quite humid under there (it’s own microclimate). Yesterday whilst washing under there I noticed it was very sore and there’s about a 1.5-2 inch region of sore, broken skin. My immediate reaction was to keep it dry so I applied talc, but then later on decided to switch tactics to sudocrem. As soon as I start to sweat a little under there, it stings like a bastard. Is there anything I can do? Thank you

Keepingnot dry is best. Be sure to dry properly after showers and apply caldesene powder twice a day. It'll clear up in a few days doing this

You may have a slight fungal infection. As the skin is broken maybe see the nurse or gp at your surgery for some cream.

I agree that medicated powder is also useful too once things have healed.

Fungal infection or could possibly be inverse psoriasis which is exactly how you describe. I’d get it looked at to rule it out and get some proper treatment for it.

I'm guessing you use shower gel OP? Switch to soap. Try the quality, natural bars from TKmaxx, or just plain olive oil soap. Also large or nork and always had angry red marks underneath that I tried treating with antifungal. It lessened, but didn't clear up.
Ditched shower gel on advice from a MN thread. Switched to soap and it was gone in a week. Has never been back.

Meant to say, please try and come back in a week to update. More women need to know this.
I never thought I'd have normal, unblemished skin there, but I do.
I also feel fresher/cleaner generally using soap, so it's win-win.

Actually, it’s very interesting you mention this as I usually use natural soap. But I’ve just come out of a week in hospital where I used shower gel for ease. Also didn’t really wear a bra the whole time I was inpatient and it was warm so I was blaming a fair bit of under boob sweat! It doesn’t half smart. Will try and come by some caldesene powder asap Smile I appreciate the tip. I will definitely come back and update.

I used sudocrem when I had a sore patch of skin under one breast a while ago. It worked a treat. I use soap under my boobs when I wash and I also apply an antiperspirant deodorant, too. I am going through the menopause and the hot flushes can be killing and I am paranoid about smelling! These small changes worked wonders for me.

Sudocrem helps me a lot

Could be thrush as underboob is a common area to get it. Ex nurse here.

Did you have it before you went to hospital OP? Or only since being there (sweaty) and using shower gel?
You've been using soap again since getting out. How long has that been? Wondering if it's getting worse and you need treatment, or to keep it dry and let it heal on its own.

It only started within the last couple of days. Was discharged on Friday, went back to normal soap straight away when I got home. I don’t think it’s infected, although it is starting to look a bit angry today

Sudocreme and caldesene powder always work for me. It could be intertrigo.

Tip my midwife gave me post c-section and needing to keep wound dry to heal, pop a clean sanitary pad onto the area to absorb all moisture. (My tummy overhang was same as Nork overhang!

Is Intertrigo something to worry about? I also have a large belly overhang but seems clear so far. It really is stinging this morning! Stress.

I get that too - fungal infection. Just use OTC canestan cream recommended by the pharmacist. Usually clears up after 2-3 days.

Thanks for the advice 😊 it’s the little splits and fissures of the skin that are the worst thing. Very stingy. Hope it doesn’t spread.

Sounds like the situation I have under my fat belly 2xcsection over hang, the skin rips if I dry it too roughly. I took it to the gp the other week and she recommended a barrier cream. I have Bepanthen nappy cream in the house and she said use that, but come back for something medicated if it gets reder and spreads.

Great tips on clearing up the soreness. When i get dried in the morning, I tuck my towel under my boobs when I'm drying my hair to let the underside have a break. I also wear a non wired vest type thing occasionally when I get what you describe - only around the house (!) - and separate the skin so it can all be kept apart for a change, and without underwire.

yy Motorbike I have a really old, soft tshirt that I tuck under boobage when lounging. Really helps that sticky skin thing. (God who would be a woman eh).

Once everything is healed use Dove roll on anti pesperant (white one with the navy lid) on the area every day. Works like magic at keeping soreness at bay.
