Brown discharge before period

I had a polyp removed recently and I've had 3 swabs taken and smear up-to-date and ultrasound and everything is perfectly normal and fine and a polyp was all clear so why am I still getting brown discharge about 3-5 days before my period. I'm such a worrier. Doc in November who removed the polyp and did scan and swabs (bupa) thinks it's hormone related and mentioned hysterectomy if it continues. Anybody else had this discharge? Just want reassurance.
I'm 40 BTW
Thanks

Is it not just light brown blood? My period always starts like this.. a light brown colour for 3-4days and then bright red blood kicks in.

I had this - had a load of tests then given the all clear and fitted with a Mirena coil. I now get the lightest possible periods - a matter of a couple of days.

Before having the DC, my periods always used to start like this with 2 days of brown bleeding. POST-

Pretty weird. Yesterday morning looked like period was starting, sorry for TMI but changed tampon and virtually nothing just grown again.
Defo not PG as had bilateral salpingectomy in November. Had 2 normal (for me) periods since.
Back to brown again this morning.
I'm confused.
Also at the same time as sterilization I had a cervical polyp removal plus ultrasound, 3 swabs and smear which were all clear.

As long as it's around the time of your period I really don't think it's anything to worry about. Periods tend to change a bit in late 30's as well, the pattern can change a bit.
I think if you are worried then speak to your GP but as you can see from this thread it's fairly normal for most people to have some light brown bleeding.
