Breast reduction on the NHS

Are there any ladies out there who have been a successful candidate for a breast reduction funded by the NHS?

I have been battling with my head for about 6 years on overcoming my fear of telling my doctor I want a breast reduction due to medical reasons but also terrified that I may be rejected. I have all my medical reasons set out in a document also explaining how they affect me on a daily basis, including things I've tried myself to try and reduce my breast size.

I was hoping to hear some experiences of whether or not anyone has been eligible for a breast reduction.

Any additional information, advice or tips will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Abigail

Hi ladies I have not I saved up for ages but my sister did on the NHS.

All the information you've gotten is perfect and when you see your GP remember to argue your case just like a parent would with their child or for their mental health ect.

Tell them your cup size, the effect it's having on you, everything you've tried and how you're at a crossroads at the moment.

If you get it(i hope you do and don't give up!) take now of how tiring the recovery can be, my breasts ached so bad it limited anything I could do with with my DC's so DH took time off work :)

It may not be up to your GP. Most CCGs have had to stop funding for this surgery.

I had one but it was in 1998. I was a H cup and now I'm a C. Certainly don't regret it. I understand I was very lucky though and it's rare these days. Make lots of noise about back problems etc and ask. Good luck xx

It's not NHS funded anymore. My friend who is an 'L' Cup Shock first tried to get Breast reduction done on the NHS back in 2006, and despite several letters from her GP when he referred her (3 X) it never got accepted. So she still has backbreaking big boobs.
