Ovulation pain/constipation agony

I have been having some bowel problems, mainly, chronic constipation and this has given me a dragging heavy sensation in my bottom. I have terrible gas, bloating.
At the moment I am ovulating and it's really painful on the right side, I have had to take laxatives and am going to the toilet but having extreme pain down both legs and in the bottom of my back.
Has anyone had this and managed to overcome chronic constipation?

Your symptoms sound awful Flowers. Have you seen your GP? The ovulation pains sound similar to the mid-cycle pain I used to suffer; it turned out a I had a cyst on my right ovary. In my case this was an endometrioma, and linked also to bowel problems I was experiencing, but there can be many causes of this type of pain, so I would recommend having it investigated ASAP.

The problem with laxatives is that if your bowel has become sensitive for some reason, laxatives can make it more painful, so you need to press your GP to find out the root cause of the condition rather than take these over a long period.

I have an appointment on 3rd July, can't get in any sooner at my GP.
Today I've got constant tummy ache and trapped gas, and I feel sick.
Thank you, I have used laxatives for years and I do struggle after I've taken them.
I hope your problems are better now?

Yes, thank you - unfortunately, mine had gone undiagnosed for so long that I ultimately had to have a hysterectomy. It was the best decision I ever made, but I regret that I spent so many years in pain when it probably could have been treated at a much earlier stage without the need for such major surgery.

As an interim solution, have you tried peppermint tea to relieve your trapped wind - this is quite effective if it's something you don't mind the taste of.

3rd July is a long time to wait - if you experience the extreme shooting pains again, it might be worth asking for an urgent appointment. You shouldn't have to put up with that kind of pain.

No but I will give it a go. I will ring them in the morning, thank you. No it isn't good to be in such pain. x
