Funeral or dd 12 week vaccinations?

My dh has just told me it's his nans funeral next week the same day as our dd vaccinations. The vaccinations are only once a week and the funeral will be a all day event so I can't do both on the same day. Would you cancel the vaccinations to go to the funeral or not go to the funeral (dh can go of course).

PotteringAlong Thu 10-Nov-16 19:05:30

I'd do the vaccinations at 13 weeks

lightsandresistance Thu 10-Nov-16 19:06:26

Just do the vaccinations at the next available appointment.

Sirzy Thu 10-Nov-16 19:07:49

Wait a week longer for the vaccinations

AllTheBabies Thu 10-Nov-16 19:08:54

Funeral. No question. The vaccinations will be fine a week late.

GrinchyMcGrincherson Thu 10-Nov-16 19:09:03

I would rearrange the jabs. It won't matter being a week out

JellyWitch Thu 10-Nov-16 19:09:24

Funeral - wouldn't even debate it.

gamerwidow Thu 10-Nov-16 19:17:54

Funeral I wouldn't think twice about it. Jabs will be fine one week late.

what a silly question. funeral of course. 1 week wait for jabs will not matter. if your kid was ill you would have to delay them anyway.

Chickpearocker Thu 10-Nov-16 19:25:43

Doesn't have to be at exactly 12 weeks, I wasn't given an appointment until 13 weeks so had no choice.

Lookinatu Thu 10-Nov-16 19:27:16

Wow I think I am so out of sync with human emotion I didn't question it and just said I don't think I can go.

PilkoPumpPants Thu 10-Nov-16 19:28:41

100% Funeral.

BackforGood Thu 10-Nov-16 19:32:18

Am stunned you are even asking this. When I saw the title, I thought it might be the funeral of someone you vaguely know.
There's no question. Go to your Nan-in-law's funeral of course.

AniceMNetter Thu 10-Nov-16 19:38:39

Funeral, I assume this is your first baby hence feeling out of sync with things.. happens!

Fitzsimmons Thu 10-Nov-16 19:41:23

If it helps to reassure you, my DD had her vaccines at 8, 13 and 18 weeks because of a lack of resources at my local surgery. They said it was fine as long as there were 4 weeks between doses

AlmaMartyr Thu 10-Nov-16 19:42:09

Funeral. The vaccinations can wait a week.

CPtart Thu 10-Nov-16 19:56:26

Practice nurse here- funeral without a doubt.

AmeliaJack Thu 10-Nov-16 19:58:51

Funeral without question.

Call the surgery and explain your reason for cancelling. They may bump you to next week or they may fit you in another time.

Lookinatu Fri 11-Nov-16 09:14:16

Called the surgery they don't have another appointment for 5 weeks. Dh has asked me to take her and he will go down with his brother.

JellyWitch Fri 11-Nov-16 09:18:22

Is there a reason you can't delay for 5 weeks?

As I understand it, vaccinations are packed in tight partly so that patents get them done whilst they are still a captive audience. A bit of delay isn't the end of the world.

petalsandstars Fri 11-Nov-16 09:18:42

Can you get referred to another drs surgery nearby instead? I've had that done before for jabs.

CotswoldStrife Fri 11-Nov-16 09:23:06

If your DD had been ill, they would have delayed the vaccinations so I'd say the funeral too. If you are really that worried about a possible 5 week delay, can you check with your HV who may be able to put your mind at rest?

Lookinatu Fri 11-Nov-16 09:25:18

Tbh I don't know much about the vaccinations time frames and I didn't know I could go to another doctors for it. Dh is pushing me to take dd for her vaccinations and not go. I will do some calls today but I am leaving the final decision to him as I don't want any back lash.

InTheDessert Fri 11-Nov-16 09:26:24

Vaccinations delayed for a month - unless your travelling somewhere exotic in the next few months which need all the vaccinations completing.
Go to the funeral.

Slothlikesundays Fri 11-Nov-16 10:04:48

Had exactly the same problem with Dad's first. Went to the funeral and postponed jabs. Funerals are a once only event.
