AIBU to think that neighbours should respect my privacy?

There's a footpath down the side of our property, with a garden at the back that is fenced off. We are friendly with our neighbours and socialise regularly. One neighbour walked into our garden last week to look at our chicks. She didn't ask and didn't know she'd been seen, although she knew that DP was at home. Her adult son had a friend to stay recently and the only time they went out was to walk down our path and peer over the fence. This evening a different neighbour brought his young daughter into the garden to look at the chicks. I wouldn't walk into their gardens without asking and I feel that they are being very rude. I'm tempted to put a lock on the gate but this makes it difficult for DD to look after her pets. What would you do?

Remote control sprinklers

If I saw someone in my garden I would be straight out there to ask them why they were there. Very odd.

Put a padlock with a code on it so no key needed easy for your DD.

Maybe start with a sign on the gate - private property, do not enter - type of thing?

If your friendly with them, I would just talk to them. Say you don't mind them visiting the chicks, but would they mind letting you know they are there. That they have startled you a couple of times when you have looked out to find people in your garden. Signs and padlocks will probably sour your good relationship with your neighbours
