I'm reading 'The More you Ignore Me' and it is really good. You can actually hear Jo Brand's voice as you read it, telling the story. I am really pleasantly surprised by how well written it is.
Has anybody else read and Jo Brand stuff and enjoyed it?

I'd love to swap for the Ben Elton one if that's ok! I've never read any of his and I have been meaning to for ages.

OMG I read 'Dear Fatty' and loved it, so DH thought, "female comedians and their autobiographies = winner" and bought it for me for Christmas - OMG YAWNNNNNNNNNNNNNN! Anyone else terribly disappointed by the autobiography?

Dear Fatty is in my box of books to read. Do you mean Brand's autobiography was boring?

Yes, Buzzing, it was boring beyond belief. I quite like her as a comedian, especially her later stuff but the autobio was just awful!

Dear Fatty is brilliant - especially if you like Dawn French - it made me want to write and thank her for it!!

past mortem - yeah no problem, assuming I can find it!
I actually was going to mention BE at some point as I think his books are really good but I thought I might out myself as I bet they're considered stupid

I was drawn to this thread because I am trudging through JB's autobiography. It is dire. It reads like ramblings and reminiscences that have been literally taped and transcribed. There's no analysis, introspection or depth to it al all. I am really disappointed - glad I'm not alone.

I'm still going to read it.

I read a book last year called 'The Adventures of Diet Girl' by Shauna someone and it was excellent. It's based on her own experiences as she lost weight from being 25stone. It's inspirational and very honest. I even emailed her and she replied so I was dead chuffed.

I actually thought Dear Fatty was rather dull- didn't find it funny and I thought it would be.

Well buzzing let me know how you get on with it
Dear Fatty isn't a comedic book as such, but then I wasn't expecting it to be, but I loved the style she wrote in and I was really interested in what she had to say about her life.
