Yes it felt like someone had taken the other two books, mashed them together and come up with something not very coherent

Yes! I was beginning to worry I was the only one who thought this.
From what I read he died just after it was handed to his publisher, maybe he still had revisions/editing to do?

There just wasn't enough of Lisbeth in this book for my liking.

now remind me...hornets nest is the sex trafficking plot?

You do have to persevere - I had exactly the same thing with the name confusion, but then suddenly it all clicked into place and I was gripped.

But a bit too much stuff on the history of Swedish government - I felt like I was reading a text book at times. It needed some sharper editing.

It didn't add anything new, just seemed to rehash the plot of the previous two. Too much of Erika Berger too, I don't like that woman.

I agree I really didn't like Erika at all.
TBF I did like ending, I felt it was fairly realistic but there was an awful lot of waffling.

Sophable yes thats the sex traffic one.

But you don't get the conclusion to book two if you don't read book three. To be fair, all three took a while to get going but they're all worth persevering with.

Matt thats very true, IMO you need to read all 3 to get a clear picture of the 2nd book.

I've found this site interesting
www.stieglarsson.com/Millennium-series
especially the part about the 4th book, would love to know what his overall vision was, maybe someday it will be published.

Such a shame he never got the write all 10. I would have loved another one after Hornet's Nest.

Did you get that deck working, btw?

Hi, yes I did, thanks. But it's a hell of a faff just recording one song, isn't it? Especially when the record skips and you've got to go back and take out all the dodgy bits.
I'm sure it will get easier with practice though.

Fishie Virgina Andrews , you lost me?
It's been said that his DP was a big influence on the writing, it's possible she might be able to give an outline of what might have been.

Erika I dunno just didn't warm to her.

I really enjoyed it. I do find it annoying that he has to sleep with all the women though.

Isn't it great that we are all different. I really enjoyed book three. I know it was a bit more "spy" based than the other two but I thought it brought everything together. In fact I have suggested that my son reads book three first. I agree, I'm not to keen on Erika, I find her a little too aggressive in getting her own needs met. Perhaps I'm just jealous.

I think I've been put off this now.

I enjoyed 1, but found 2 was a bit.... unrealistic

Is coffee drinking still prolific in 3 ?

Report
porcamiseria · 18/02/2010 13:19

I have not read it yet, b ut enhoyed 1na d 2. I dont like Erica B either, selfish and a two timer, not a character females would typically like, love Lisbeth though

MattBellamysMuse · 19/02/2010 23:16

Carrotfly, yes, much coffee drinking
Frosti, reading book 3 first would be hugely confusing. It ties up everything that happened in books 1&2. Your son won't have a clue what's going on!
