Artemis Fowl: is ther 2 different versions? I'm confused!

Looking on ebay there are two different covers for the original book! I'm currently reading the kids version I got out of the library & would like to buy the full set.
Is the language used different in the adult version? Or is it just like Harry Potter- an adult cover to encourage adults to read it too? Don't want to buy the wrong version if the language wouldn't be appropriate for DD when she gets around to reading it!

The first book is also available as a graphic novel. Aside from that, cover art may vary (hardback v. paperback, US v. UK edition) but the text is the same and is child-appropriate.
