I've had this next to the bed for aaages. So I took it away on hols expecting 'great things'...but it does nothing for me. I've stopped reading it now. I must be the only person on the planet who can't get into this.

It rambles on so much about zoo animals all the time. Waah! I want to like this book!

So I'm not alone?? Then I feel a bit better.

I used to read and read. Then I got out of the habit of it and just read mn, papers and various rubbish. I hate not having a book on the go and wanted to get reading again. A holiday was the chance to get back to where I was. I can't work out if it's me or the book.

Ooh thanks! I'll look out for that one then. I need recommendations I think.

Since dc I haven't got much stamina nowadays when it comes to books. If I'm not enthralled by page 10, I can't keep going. (I did persevere for much longer than pg10 btw with Pi, but I've had to stop now.)

It is very odd indeed.

I did finish it, but I can't say I enjoyed it particularly.

You are not the only one. I tried - and failed. I read all sorts of stuff, and my original degree was English Lit, so I can do 'heavy' - but I just didn't get it.

Lol that's exactly what I kept thinking...I don't get it. I wondered if it was supposed to all be symbolic of something else, but my pea brain couldn't quite fathom what that might be.

I'm feeling quite reassured now and not quite such a numpty. Thanks so much for suggetions too. I'll def be looking out for them.
