I'm about a 1/3 of the way through but not finding it as compelling as The House at Riverton.

I seem to remember The House at Riverton got slated on here but I actually liked it!

I hated it I'm afraid. I got through the first chapter and gave up.

oh dear. I liked The Forgotten Garden. I was gripped by the end. I am reading The House at Riverton now but finding it a bit slower. However it provides the escapist kind of read that I crave.

I remember enjoying The Forgotten Garden last summer. There was a thread about it on MN. Haven't read The House at Riverton - thanks for jogging my memory!

I loved The House at Riverton, but I haven't read The Forgotten Garden yet. I must remember to look out for a copy.

I loved Forgotten Garden, but couldn't get interested in House at Riverton. Just shows we're all different!!

Read The house at Riverton and found it v tedious and annoying after the 1st chapter.

Having been loaned The Forgotten Garden I have started on the grounds that I really ought to and am actually prefering it to Riverton.
Saying that, I've a long way to go - she does like to write BIG books, doesn't she?

I like both, took me a while with house at Riverton becuase it skips from present day to past but got into and loved both stories in the end. Would def recommend reading them. Couple of interesting twists in them to.

I liked both but preferred the Forgotten Garden, keeps you guessing right until the end!

jajas , they are family sagas, mysteries and skeletons in the closet , which are revealed from different time perspectives.

Sorry - have just remembered that the thread I posted on was on another website I use, not this one! Was there a thread on MN too? I mean, apart from this one, obviously.

Good description, LIZS, I was struggling to answer jajas question - you did so very succinctly

I loved both books but I favored House at Riveron because the skill of suspense was really used beautifully
