Really looking forward to this book as I think that her thrillers are exceptional! Am going to a 'Meet Sophie Hannah' event in a couple of weeks so will hopefully get a signed copy.

thanks dandy & mabel...well, tbh, i really enjoyed her previous books (my first leap into female crime thriller genre) and was expecting a lot from her latest release...didn't quite live up to expectations. I was left feeling rather empty (not to mention short changed) by the end of the book

I love her writing and think she has a serious knack for plot. The police officer characters are much different than the ones in other crime novels ie. they are not heroic. They are very normal characters and I like them because of this.

I managed to pick up one I hadn't read (Hurting Distance) at the weekend and one of the police officers sleeps with someone very unsuitable in the story - I thought this was very well done as she didn't know him at all really as she was caught up with her own thoughts.

In american crime novels it's written much more as if they really know each other well - they're written much more intimately.

I just find her writing very British and find the characters realistically reserved.

I will be buying the new one as soon as I get to waterstones

Well, went to the Waterstones event yesterday and really enjoyed it. What a fabulous woman Sophie Hannah is, really interesting and witty. Had never been to an event like that before so did not really know what to expect. She talked through the plots and her inspiration for the first 3 of her crime genre novels, then talked about the latest release and read a section of it. Then she did a question and answer session. What shone through was how much she loves the crime genre and admires others work and is refreshingly modest about her own. So glad that I went and really looking forward to the book.

oooo forgot to mention that her books are being filmed for itv as we speak and will be shown as 'event tv' like Prime Suspect i.e 2 x 2 hour shows rather than a weekly series.
