My DS2 and I have just registered with our local library (we moved here in September) and I just love libraries! The smell, the quiet, the chance to browse: I could have spent hours in there. I have happy memories of going to the local library with my mum on a Wednesday afternoon when I was little and being able to choose three new books to take out. Bliss!

I am another library lover. Almost makes paying huge ammounts of council tax ok!

Yep, libraries are fantastic, aren't they?
Ds and I hang around ours a lot. The childrens' bit has toys and little seats adn cushions. We can easily spend an hour there adn the staff are lovely.

When we moved into our current house last year, I was amazed to find that we are on the local mobile library round. Once a fortnight the van parks about 4 doors away from us and stays there for about half an hour.

It's a real boon for me, because most of my books are still in storeage, and will be until the garages are converted. I didn't know when we packed up in April, that I'd be without my books for so long, and have long since read the few books I brought to tide me over!

Even dh loves the library van - and he hasn't stepped in a library for years, as far as I know. He looks forward keenly to the next visit and is reading more at the moment than he has for years!!

God bless the library service, I say!

When I was little the library van used to come to the village and I loved it. There was just something special about going up the steps and being faced with all those books (even though there wasn't much choice come to think of it.)

I even remember once, when I was four, slipping on the ice as I ran to the van and whacking, face first against the pavement. But the staff gave me some stickers and although I don't remember the pain I do remember what the stickers looked like!

I'm so glad that dts have my love for libraries and books. They are borrowing all the TinTin books at the moment.

Share your thoughts. I love the library, though we don't get to go so much now little one is not so little, but still...the smell, the quiet, the books. BLISS!

Our main library in town are always giving books away too, or book bags or book marks. Always something to make it interesting for the little uns. And every Halloween they have performance poetry and picture drawing. Great value for money, as far as council tax is concerned.

I love libraries. I hope they never die out. It's like the e-book vs real book thing. Books will never die out. I only know one person who uses an e-book reader thingy and that's my brother. We have a house full of books! Gosh we'd have so much space if we didn't have books. Our library is running a book review competition (for grown-ups) which I am going to enter. They do seem to do a lot for little ones too but we've only just joined. I hope that my DSs grow to share my love of books and libraries.

I love books and libraries too. A couple of months ago the car was not ready when we went to pick it up from the garage, so DS (2.5) and I spent an hour reading picture books whilst the rain poured outside. Heaven.
