Is Pitcairn the Island out inthe ?Pacific? owned by the British? Was there a sexual abuse trial a few years back?

Have just looked at the link, will have to go and buy! I remember reading about the whole trial thing a few years ago...does anyone know what the outcome was?

So how long did the author stay on the Islsnd for? I understood the inhabitants were majorly hostile to outsiders

St Kilda book very interesting - I remember the bits about the feet of the natives - strangely shaped to help them climb cliffs barefoot - and how so many babies dies because when the umbilical cord was cut, they were "anointed" with cormorant oil.

Oooh sounds good I love travel type books (just finished 'SHow Me The magic: Round Benin in a Taxi" which I liked very much.

St Kilda is a magical place though! My dh was a GP in the Hebrides and had a patient who had been born out there!
