Start using Mumsnet Premiumanyone remember Apple Tree Yard? quick question
(10 Posts)could you give me quick synopsis? just read Blood Orange, and it fel familiar, just wondering if they have similar storylines.
was really good anyhow.
thanks
Apple tree yard.... Told during a court case looking back.
SPOILERS**
She has an affair with someone she meets who is vague about his job but she thinks he works in Secret Service (she meets him at houses of parliament I think). She gets raped at a party by a work colleague, but had sex with the SS guy earlier so thinks she can't report it. She is very traumatised, asks the SS guy to go and give him a scare, he ends up killing him. Hence the court case. Turns out he just works an office job I think and had grandiose ideas about himself. Then right at the end you find out she did actually ask him to kill the guy for her.
Haven't read blood orange so can't comment on how similar they are!
oh thank you.... actually, not too similar , I'd recommend Blood orange.
Cheers
I hope that you had actually read apple tree yard and that i haven't just completely spoilt it for you!!
Yes I read Blood Orange and I thought it was quite similar and nowhere near as good.
I have read both and think Apple Tree Yard is better, but enjoyed Blood Orange too. they do have some similarities
Anatomy of a Scandal is good too.
i've read both, enjoyed both! I'll try Anatomy of a Scandal too, thank you
I agree op. I read both and there are striking similarities.
I enjoyed both though!
Got confused...clicked the link thinking of Apple Tree Farm...which from the spoilers, it most certainly isn't!!
