Start using Mumsnet PremiumI've just read the last Jack Reacher book...
(6 Posts)and feel partly bereft and partly relieved. I felt the violence became worse and worse in the later ones - to the extent that I'd skip paragraphs where it occurred. I almost wish there were bowlderised versions, with those bits left out. I also felt they became a bit formulaic.
But I also miss the escapism. Can anyone recommend something similar?
I love Jack Reacher but haven't read the last one because the reviews of shocking. I did read that his brother has taken over writing the books I wonder if he had some input into this one? I've just been reading an earlier one sat in the sunshine today actually.
Have you read any Robert Crais? I love Elvis Cole and Joe Pike.

I suggest Zoe Sharp. She’s a terrific writer and her characters are intense, edgy and dangerous.
I think that Blue Moon (the most recent) was all Lee Childs, and that his brother is getting involved with the next ones.
Oh ok well I've ordered it off Amazon and it's been sent to my Kindle so I will try it next I am just finishing off the latest Robert Crais.
David Baldacci is quite good too.
