Just finished reading The Handmaids Tale and The Testaments.

Love from both sides by Nick Spalding and the rest of the books in the series because they are side splittingly funny very relatable at times and anyone ive recommended them to has loved them. One of the few authors who had actually made me cry so hard with laughter ive been unable to read the next words xx

Do you like fantasy/sci-fi, crime/mystery, paranormal romance-ish - I can recommend bucketloads of all of those. Also partial to a classic or two...

Little pink pill, only a 99p book but I enjoyed it. Was recommended Rachel Adams, there are a few The back road being one but I wasn't convinced tho my friends liked them, they are psychological thrillers.

I love a good saga. Well before they became TV shows my favourites were The Outlander series by Diana Gabledon and The Last Kingdom by Bernald Cornwall. Also loved Jean Auel's Earth Children saga.

If you want a modern police drama check out Stuart MacBride's Logan MacCrae series.

Loads of classic are free. I'm a mix of Jane Austen, dystopian/socialist stuff, Marian Keyes, Sue grafton (and crime fiction generally - you can't go wrong with Agatha Christie and Holmes), Tess geritsen and many others.

What era do you like? I like most but not particularly a fan of modernism except for I do love James Joyce but then I've a soft spot for many Irish writers.

Oh I envy you all the discoveries!

I’ve just finished The Passengers by John Marrs. It’s set a few years from now when all cars are self driving. It’s a thriller with lots of unexpected plot twists, and leaves you asking lots of questions about morality and the relative value of lives

Well the obvious ones to follow The Handmaids Tale etc would be Atwood's other dystopian novels (BRILLIANT!) = the Oryx and Crake Trilogy

I'm telling everyone I meet and know about this - I'm raving about it it was so good. It's called Standards and Duty, I got it on Kindle - it made me cry! It's SO good....

It's about a woman who was faced with an impossible choice, and then she has to become a mother figure and it's how she deals with the life she's been dealt and how that differs so much than the one she'd been working towards. Can't recommend it highly enough. I needed tissues! I've told all my friends, family, even some of the mums at school about it - I'm sure they think I'm raving mad, but I don't care. You know when you just read something so, so good, and you just have to have a share? It's not a bad price, either - I got the kindle version so it was about £3.. but I know it's free if you have that Kindle Unlimited thing... I think there's a paperback too? Well worth a read!
