walnutshell, i must have read every single baby book out there. they are pretty much the same. the omne that afected me most was the one by Voldemortina and it affected me so much i never bought anoither one again and cuddled my babys and fed them when they cried rather than by the clock.

Thre will be positives and negaties to every book which won't nessacarily match your +s and -s. Can you get some out of your local library fortst so you don't waste money?

Why Love Matters is a fantastic book - I am halfway through it at the moment. A bit heavy going in places but well worth the read.

mumof - I very much enjoy Penelope Leach, she is so soothing. I will look in the library though, good point.

Project - I would LOVE to read The Politics of Breastfeeding particularly as am feeding ds with no signs of stopping, but I cannot get hold of it . I will take on board your other recommendations too - hang on while I get a post-it...

DS is almost 21 months, I'm just very interested in current psychological thinking and want to keep reading and of course turn to MN for a bit of guidance! Thanks.

i didn't come across penelope leach tbh. have actually not come across any of the books already mentioned! maybe it just felt like i read every baby book .

They f**k you up by Oliver James is very current psychology.

I had trouble following some of it though

Yeah, scatty, I am reading that one at the mo and in between novels! Interesting although sometimes it seems to be a little superficial, but I am enjoying it.

I read "The Highly Sensitive Child" by Elaine Aaron.

HOwever, it was more centred around my DD's characteristics, rather than general parenting.

as well as looking at co-sleeping, touches on breast feeding, attachment issues in a range of societies and long term effects on children by virtue of their parenting experience.

will truely test your outlook!
