Users of Overdrive to borrow library books

I discovered using overdrive to download library books a few months ago and it's been great for making it possible for me to borrow library books. But, I have a question about how the hold system works.

I have had a particular book on hold for a while and first in line with "approximately 2 weeks wait" for nearly 6 weeks now. I assume that the previous reader is renewing the book because they'd like to keep hold of it. Is there a limit to how much you can do this? In my old library, of you called to renew a book and there was a waitlist, you'd be allowed one renew, but then told it had to be returned. Does similar happen with Over Drive? Or can they renew indefinitely?

Hello, I'd phone your library on Monday to ask, but in my library there is a policy that a book on overdrive cannot be renewed if it has a hold/holds, they will be happy to clarify their policy for you though. What book is it, out of nosiness?

Thanks sleepy, I will. I wondered whether it was a library thing or an Overdrive thing.

Book is The Binding by Bridget Collins. Hopefully it'll be worth the wait!

Ah, I loved The Binding. Took a while to get into, then literally couldn't put the book down. I hope you get the book soon. Most libraries have a policy of not allowing renewals when someone has a hold, a;though overdrive is complicated.

sleepy thanks, finally got it yesterday and finished it today, so yep I enjoyed it! I was the opposite to you though, loved part 1 and parts 2 & 3 didn't quite hit the mark. I wanted more binding and less love!
