(9 Posts)Based on a recommendation I read on here I have recently read book 1 and 2 in the Dark Days series. I read them really quickly and enjoyed them more than anything else I have read in a long while.
As soon as I finished book 2 I immediately brought the third book but it has been sitting unread on my Kindle for a few weeks now.
There are a few reasons why I am reluctant to read it:
- I am really busy at work at the moment so now is not the best time to start reading a book I can't put down. I found myself staying up far too late reading the first 2 books.
- This is the last book of the series, at the moment I have the anticipation of looking forward to it but once I have read it, it will be all over.
- The main reason is I am scared that it won't end the way I want it to. I was heart broken by the end of the second book and I don't see how the author can unravel the situation to give me the ending I want!
I know it's just a book and I am being a bit dramatic and I will read it soon, I just wondered if anyone else has felt this way about a book.
If you have read the third Dark Days book please don't post any spoilers or even any hints about what happens, I like the tension and knowing what happens would ruin it for me.
Although I've not read those books, I can totally empathise. I have a book of short stories that I only ever read on my phone if I get stuck anywhere. I deliberately ration myself as the book is so beautifully written, I know I’ll be bereft when I’ve finished it.
I know how you feel.
(DD just finished the third part (whisper))
Please can you tell us who the author is?
ozymandiusking the books are by Alison Goodman, the first one is called The Dark Days Club. They are great if you like Georgette Heyer and other regency books.
JiltedJohnsJulie what is the collection you’re reading please?
Thanks, will check that one out!
Thanks Princess.
