Is this the all new HP thread?

becklespeckledfrog · 21/06/2007 11:42

I am a HP geek too Doobypoo - you are amongst friends here!
I remember when book 6 came out I was speaking to a friend at work about it. Her brother had told her that DD died but not how so she asked me how. I told her it was Avada Kedavra and did a wand flick motion with my hand at the same time - sad aren't I!

I close family member is having having a big "do" (not HP related) on the day before the book comes out and the family are because I said we couldnt go as we are going to a book store!

BOM: The panic I felt wasnt so much because it was full, more because for a while I couldnt find the new thread .

Panic over now and feel quite at home in this new thread

I applied for tickets for the JKRowling thing but my youngest is only 6 and I was just going to say he has come as "colin Creavey" but we didnt get any tickets . Probably for the best really as my DD (11yo) is on a trip away and not due back home until 11pm(It would seem mean if we all went to london without her!)

Hi doobypoo, I reckon it'd be awful if they didn't let him go, a couple of weeks isn't go to make much difference is it?

I've just been reading over the last of the old thread and I see what you mean about DD, but maybe he just couldn't believe Snape was really on the dark side? But on the other hand, if there was something between them then nobody else know about it did they? I remember the teachers talking afterwards and someone said 'we always wondered why DD trusted Snape so much'.

Btw, just out of curiosity, does anyone on here like His Dark Materials as well? If so, once HP is finished, both book & film, we can reconvene for the Golden Compass film (Dec). Or am I blaspheming now ?

I LOVED...His Dark Materials...but perhaps,rightly...tis another thread

aah! here you all are!

butterbeers all round.

Sunshinemummy · 21/06/2007 12:34

HDM would definitely join that thred too.
Mmm butterbeer for me please. Or maybe some oak-aged mead.

Report
MrsWeasley · 21/06/2007 12:39

I liked HDM too but not as much as HP of course.

Anyway:
I can see that DD thinks that having someone close to V (ie. snape) would be more beneficial to keeping harry safe and at 157 he must have known his time was coming to an end. He would stop at nothing to save Harry. But can remain a spy now without DD's support?

Report
Sunshinemummy · 21/06/2007 12:45

I also thought the thing about there possibly being an unbreakable vow between DD and Snape was a possibility.

Report
Songbird · 21/06/2007 12:58

Mrs W - that's just what I was going to say. I think DD would think it imperative that Snape stays with V, but who's he going to report back to? Maybe he doesn't need to. No-one's going to trust him now, are they?

Report
becklespeckledfrog · 21/06/2007 13:03

Good point Songbird! Perhaps Snape has an unbreakable vow with DD to protect Harry? Would an unbreakable vow last beyond death I wonder?

Report
Songbird · 21/06/2007 13:05

I still think DD is 'above' unbreakable vows. He would prefer to trust someone, I think.

well Mr Weasley could be his contact! not sure about him he is not as wishy washy as he appears. (hidden strength)
Lupin would be sensible and would look after Harrys best interests but snape doesnt like him!

Songbird · 21/06/2007 13:15

Hmm your wonderful dh is definitely more level-headed than the others (even with that red hair!). Maybe Snape just needs to work from the inside, and maybe he'll help Draco out - he's not a happy bunny is he?

Can I just jump in and ask how long does it take to get result on a wombat test on JK Rowling site. Did one the other day and still says paper being marked. Also gone to the door to see if there is another wombat test I can do in the meantime and the Do Not Disturb is there and has been for a fe days. Is this because I am waiting for results from my last one?

Sorry to jump in like this and change the plot of the thread.

By the way I am predictinh Harry and Voltemort are going to die. Harry will kill LV, but by doing so will have to sacrfice his own life. If harry does live he will be the DADA teacher.
