What have you enjoyed on Audible?

I had a thread ages ago and i cant find it now. From that thread I listened to all the Cabin Pressures and adored them . Most of Lian Moriarty although they aregetting abit samey now. Tiny Beautiful Things which was different and led me on to Lauren Grahams autobiography and my, her voice is doing me in. Shes a one trick pony. Im abit stuck now so ive downloaded The Paying Guests as i alwaysclijed Sarah Waters, should i have downloaded The Little Stranger instead? Can you still send then back for free?

You can still send books back to Audible for free. I returned one recently that I wasn't enjoying.

But, if it was me, I'd keep both the Sarah Waters novels. I really enjoyed The Paying Guests. And another of hers, Fingersmith, is brilliant. I've got Tipping The Velvet still to listen to and DH bought Affinity recently (book not Audible) as he's enjoying her books now too.

Favourites of mine have been 11.22.63 by Stephen King (time travel not horror), Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie Robert Galbraith's (J K Rowling) Cormoran Strike series and Susan Hill's Simon Seraillier novels.

I am halfway through Lonesome Dove on audible and enjoying it so much. I read it when I was a teenager and absolutely loved it - it is just as enjoyable many years later and as an audiobook. I highly recommend.

I love the Chronicles of St Mary's books by Jodi Taylor. A friend nagged me until I started them and I got hooked. Very well narrated too.

I enjoyed Ken Follett's 20th century trilogy (Fall of Giants, Winter of the World, and...another). All long and excellent value!

Anything read by Juliet Stevenson is good too - she's my favourite narrator and I relisten to her Jane Austen books when I need a comfort.

I got Audible so I could listen to all of the BBC radio 4 series Pilgrim. It's absolutely wonderful - full of magic and strangeness, gorgeous acting and at times moves me to tears. It's a triumph of radio and I am happier than anything to have it.

The complete John Le Carre Smiley books is great too.

And now I'm listening to Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman which is also brilliant.

I always try to go for the long ones!

You beat me to it with Americanah and all the Comoran Strike books, they are brilliant. The narrator is superb in both. Whoever said the radio plays telling the magical story of Pilgrim, I totally agree. One of the best things I have heard on R4, and I have listened for many, many years. 😊

If you want something lighthearted I enjoyed spectacles by Sue Perkins. A lot of the books by David Sedaris are dry and funny if you like that style.

I also enjoy Jon Ronson, particularly the psychopath test. He has a free podcast style thing on audible you could try called the Butterfly Effect which was really interesting

Just listening to the Man Booker Prize winner Milkman and really enjoying both the book and the narration. Don't normally like the winners but I would recommend this.

Completely agree about Chronicles of St Mary’s by Jodie Taylor. Brilliant story-telling, brilliantly narrated and completely addictive - I worked my way quickly through the entire series. I tend to wake up and worry in the middle of the night, and those books were a godsend. Her other books are also fantastic.

All the Light We Cannot See by Antony Doerr was also phenomenal.
