I have just finished reading this series of books. I think they varied significantly. The first and the fourth were my favourites. The one set during the Edinburgh book festival was probably the worst one but I do love her writing and think Jackson is a fantastic character.

Anyone else read these? What do you think?

I love them!
One of my comfort reads, kept in real book format to be brought out with blanket and hot toddy if I feel flu-ey or anxious.

Joined by Nora Roberts, Georgette Heyer, Anne Perry, C J Sansom and best of all, Sir Terry Pritchett.

I love a re-read me. I think it stems from an only childhood as a voracious reader in a largely book free household.

I digress, I love Jackson and Kate Atkinson's writing is superb. Try her other books too.

I've read behind the scenes at the museum, life after life and god in ruins. She's wonderful.

I just had to jump on to say Hello to Jason Isaacs. Loved the books, but only read them because I had a thing for JI, tbh Blush

The last one is the best one but leaves so many unanswered questions. It's very clever.

Never seen the tv series just watched some on YouTube. It's rubbish compared to the books. And Amanda Abbington as Louise. No. Bad casting.

Like Dickens and P G Wodehouse, the genius is all in the narrative voice so I can't imagine her books adapting well to TV at all. Having said that, I read in Victoria Wood's obituary that she played Tracy Waterhouse, and given that I loved VW and I loved Tracy, I think I might have liked to have seen that.

I have often wondered whether Jackson's fake wife, the conwoman, was the woman in the first book who was framed for murder and was hoping to run off with the vicar.

I love Kate Atkinson, and the Jackson Brodie books. It's reminded me that I loaned all four to someone and never got them back. I can't remember who! 😕

Ah yes ! But too different in age

I also love them . Re read them all every 3 years ! It’s hard to pin down why I love her books so very much but she is by far my favourite writer

I am looking for a new series to start right now, so am glad I stumbled upon this topic.

Looks like the Jackson Brodie series is something I will enjoy.

Thanks!

I loved these and have enjoyed most things she’s written but didn’t like Life After Life - so relentlessly miserable!

I enjoyed the Jackson Brodie books v much, and was dismayed that my 2 boys hated When Will There Be Good News when they studied it for A level.
