I am halfway through. It's a bit meh!! I am waiting for something interesting to happen. I am going away tomorrow and it's hardback from the library (so heavy to carry). Is it worth keeping going.... does it perk up?

Nothing really happens I’m afraid. It seems to be her standard nowadays :(

I have literally just put it in my suitcase!!! I want to keep going.... I want to like it!!! Of course the problem is it being a library book I actually will have to bring it back rather than just abandon it on the train!!! Ha ha!

Lemony has it spot on. Nothing interesting happens and you are left wondering why you bothered reading it.

I can’t help myself with Sophie kinsella books - they definitely have been gradually getting worse but I keep reading them...

I used to enjoy her books but now they always seem to disappoint. It did't help that in "Surprise Me" I really disliked the moaning spoilt over-indulged main character with her wealthy privileged life.

I haven’t read this one but I love her writing style so I probably will read it - gutted if it’s not very good!

So..... I went and had a read of the reviews on Amazon and quite a few said it gets interesting because there is an unexpected twist - so I decided to keep going.
Well there is a twist - but it means the second half of the book doesn't really match the first. It almost feels like Sophie Kinsella was actually writing two books at the same time and by mistake muddled up the pages and her editor didn't notice.
The only thing I liked about Sylvie was the love she seemed to show to her twins.
Very odd book.

Oh I'm surprised at this thread. I've just read this book. I enjoyed it. I wouldn't say nothing happens in it. I mean sure it's no literary genius but I liked it.

Much prefer her writing as Madeleine Wickham, much more believable. If I see a new author and it says "if you like Sophie Kinsella you'll love the".
