(5 Posts)My favourite book this year was Room. I loved it. I had it on my kindle for ages and started reading it one morning when the dts had a lie in.
We all spent the day reading, cuddled up under a blanket eating cakes and sausage rolls, it was perfect.
Admittedly the dts were reading Captain Underpants and Horrid Henry, but they were happy.
My least favourite was A place called winter. I just didn’t get in to it or care all that much about anyone in it. I started to read it on a cramped plane surrounded by screaming children which might not have helped, but couldn’t get into it drinking wine by a quiet and peaceful pool either.
What are yours ?
I really didn't like Room. It was a lovely, easy read which is what i was in tje mood for but it fell short for me. Cant pinpoint why.
We need to talk about Kevin was awful. I couldn't even get halfway through it. Verbose. I'll try it again another time maybe.
I'm currently halfway through About A Boy. Another nice and easy read but very funny. Really enjoying it!
Sadly didn't get through the big pile I bought at New Year last year from EBay. This year I'm aiming to read at least one a month.
Hated 4321 pretentious twaddle
Loved a little life, this is going to hurt, a kind of loving and London belongs to me (latter two were re-reading)
I quite liked about a boy too. I picked it up in a charity shop before a long journey and surprised myself by enjoying it so much. You’re right it’s a really easy read that you can just get into.
I just couldn't get into room, different take on misery porn? Only got a few chapters in and not for me. Worst book the girl on the landing, really hyped and recommended. Started well but kind of lurched towards the end, really predictable and overall terrible portrayal of mental illness. Best book, the book of lost things, childhood fantasy stories mixed with dark twists
