I’ve recently discovered Margaret Atwood and now have a new genre of fiction to read, can anyone recommend some good authors or books? I’ve read and loved Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, and the Hunger Games trilogy. Nothing too sci-fi (I have read a couple of Clare North books but they didn’t quite hit the spot)

Go for the classics - I’ve read 1984 and Fahrenheit 451 recently, both brilliant.

Some of the dystopian novels I have read (or post apocalyptical)
The forest of hands and teeth Carrie Ryan
The Gender Games
Article 5
A clockwork Orange
Divergent series (don’t watch the terrible films)
How I Live Now (dystopian chick lit!)
The Girl With all the Gifts/The boy on the bridge
Chaos Walking series by Patrick Ness (anything by him).
Lots of these are teen fiction but I am an English teacher!!

My guilty pleasure is the Life as We Knew It series by Susan Beth Pfeffer. Definitely teen drama but I love it!

Try Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. I thought it was beautifully written.

Another recommendation for girl with all the gifts.
And 'Book of Strange New Things' best read like thwatg, completely unseen, as much of the pleasure is in the unfolding of the narrative.

John Wyndham is great. The Day of the Triffids was made into a TV series.

I love this genre of books. It really fascinates me. The Handmaid's Tale is one of my all time favourite books.

1984
animal farm
The last girl trilogy
the gender games
the hunger games
matched trilogy
farenheit 415
Divergent trilogy
brother in the land
brave new world

I've just read one called 2084 that was fairly short and had an interesting premise, although not the best written.

I really liked Dark Matter by Blake Crouch

And have just downloaded Red Tent by Anita Diamont. I think they fit the genre?

Another vote for "The Chrysalids" by John Wyndham. Wonderful book.

Red Tent wouldn't really. It's set in biblical times, or even before really. At a push you could argue it's cataloguing the shift to a dystopian monotheistic male god worshipping society from an earlier more equal one, but it is a bit of a push.
That said it is a brilliant book

I looked up red tent and don’t think it’s really my thing (I love anything like Black Mirror on TV so near future stuff rather than biblical times is more my bag!) however I’ve added most of the recommendations to my kindle wish list so thank you.
