I'm currently binge watching the box set plus I read the whole book series. In the books weren't there a group of witches and one was a cat? And cousin Hadleigh lived there? Or did I imagine it?
Also if I loved these books are her others as good? And are there any similar to read? Tia

I loved the True Blood TV series and so I loved the Sookie Stackhouse series of books. Not great literature, but lots of fun. However I tried a couple of books from some of Charlaine Harris's other series and sadly couldn't get into them at all.

The last one I tried was from the Midnight, Texas series as I saw the TV adaptation was being shown (on the SyFy channel, I think). For a while I had hoped it might be the new True Blood, but nope! It's like a cheapo version, the characters are not engaging. I've given up after about 4 episodes, and given up with the book.

For vampire books, the early Anne Rice ones are good (Interview with the Vampire etc.) but they are a lot more heavy-going than the Sookie Stackhouse books.

Ooo thanks a lot quite a few to get stuck into. Yes RJ the series hasn't stayed true to the books, I enjoyed the witch storyline with the cat though

The series deviated from the books in loads of major ways - no relation to the books at all by the last couple of series. Iirc, Amelia the witch was Hadley's (vampire, cousin of Sookie) landlady, whom Sookie met when she went to clear out Hadley's apartment. Amelia was shagging her fellow witch, Bob?, and during some creative sex play, turned him into a cat. She then couldn't turn him back, and was turfed out of her coven. They both ended up living with Sookie for a while.

I liked Charlaine Harris' Lily Bard series too, with some reservations (some fucked up attitudes to 'promiscuous' women). Lily Bard was a complex, interesting character, and it was quite dark in its themes and character backstories.

Not so much the Harper Connelly or Aurora Teagarden series, and I didn't bother with her latest Teagarden one.. The midnight ones were ok, but wasn't keen on the ending.

The TV series of midnight,Texas is slowly improving (just watched episode 6) but is no True Blood. It annoys me slightly that it is supposed to be in the True Blood universe (from the books anyway) but the "rules" in the TV series are different even though I know the TV producers are no obligation (and the true blood books and TV series are very different anyhow - Arlene!)

I enjoyed the Aurora Teagarden novels, bit frothy but ok. Not supernatural at all. I've read up to book 8, will probably pick up others later but not a series I had to devour. I should continue with Jim Butcher. Someone I used to work with loved them, I read the first one and liked it but wasn't hooked.

Have you read the Nightwatch series op? Russian supernatural books. I would recommend. The Tuesday Next books are also interesting, if a little different.
