There's nothing like a good thrilling book - to read or to listen to. To celebrate the release of Audible's Thriller of the Year: Silent Child by Sarah A Denzil, we want to know about the last time you were truly gripped by a book.

What Audible say:

In the summer of 2006, Emma Price watched helplessly as her six-year-old son's red coat was fished out of the River Ouse. It was the tragedy of the year - a little boy, Aiden, wandered away from school during a terrible flood, fell into the river, and drowned. His body was never recovered. Ten years later Emma has finally rediscovered the joy in life. She's married, pregnant, and in control again… until Aiden returns.

Too traumatised to speak, he raises endless questions and answers none. Where has he been? What happened to him on that rainy afternoon? And now that he's back, who can he trust?

At Audible, we love listening to crime books. But every so often one comes along that we think is truly special. An Amazon Kindle number one bestseller, Sarah A Denzil's Silent Child is taking Audible HQ by storm. In an Audible Exclusive production, Joanne Froggatt (Mrs Bates, Downton Abbey) delivers a powerhouse performance that'll keep you gripped until the very end.

I loved Baby Doll as I was kept in suspense whether she was going to be able to escape or might get caught.

The Pinocchio Brif by Abi Silver. A schoolboy is accused of stabbing a teacher. I was left wondering did he do it. So cleverly written. Should be made into a film. Would love to win the voucher to buy more books.

Being something of a horror / suspense thriller veteran, it's been years since I read something that made my hair stand up on edge / skin crawl / heart beat faster.

The book that does comes to mind is Alfred Hitchcock & The Three Investigators in "The Mystery Of the Moaning Cave" by Robert Arthur. Shock

Read this in high school - absolutely brilliant. Soporific it ain't!

I used to read horror stories when I was a teenager and the fog was a pretty spine chilling book.

I've just finished reading The House by Simon Lelic. It's gripping, shocking stuff. A real page-turner. I recommend it highly.

The Thomas Harris books on Hannibal did it for me, and also Frankenstein, the clasic!

I've recently discovered a new author to me, Bernard Minier, who is the French equivalent of Jo Nesb. Instead of Harry Hole, Minier has Commandant Martin Servaz as his main character.
The Frozen Dead is the first book in the series, it's a fantastic psychological thriller that takes you on a scary roller-coaster of a ride/ read, and will keep you guessing and on tenterhooks until the final page.

A Disappeared at Devil's Rock.

The clunky title nearly put me off but the reviews were great and it is a proper page turner/supernatural thriller which has some real spine tingling moments.

The only book to ever actually make me jump... George Orwell's '1984'. I don't want to mention the moment in case others still haven't read it, but it really was a 'I didn't see that coming' moment...
