Start using Mumsnet PremiumI'm looking for a comfortable, cheerful book to read. I love Susan Scarlett, O Douglas and D E Stevenson. I think I actually started reading Stevenson after a recommendation on here. Could anyone recommend something similar?
Can't help but I'm a fan of Mrs Tim and would be keen to try the two other authors.
I love Mrs Tim too O Douglas is probably the most similar in style.
Not as cheerful as DE Stevenson but novels by Barbara Pym, Richmal Crompton and AJ Cronin roll along nicely. The Tortoise and the Hare by Eilizabeth Jenkins is amusing.
