Looking for good German books for women

Just that really... books based in Germany written by women for women, fiction, in either English or German ... not historical.

I used to live there and miss Germany, so would like to read something contemporary to make me feel like I'm there!

Just searched my bookshelf and I already have the lighthouse ... picked it up in a charity shop a few weeks ago. I've ordered Wallflower and Book of Clouds from Amazon Marketplace. Can't wait! I'll start the Lighthouse tonight.

Mind you, Stasiland isn't fiction but is still very good. Another in similar vein is Frauen which is a collection of interviews with women who lived through the 3rd Reich. So not contemporary either!!

Judith Hermann might appeal. She does novels and short stories. Somebody Erpenbeck also. I've forgotten her first name.

My book shelves are quite chaotic just now but another I forgot yesterday is a collection of stories in the cities series. Berlin Tales. Translated by Lyn Marven and edited by Helen Constantine. In there are several pieces by women, about half of them.

Julia Franck has done some good stories too. She also features in Berlin Tales.
