I'm reading A slow passion-snails, my garden and me. It's non fiction, written by Ruth Brooks and describes her involvement in a citizen science project. I'm really enjoying it.Despite my massive 'to read' pile I'm wondering what others are reading at the moment!

To Capture what we cannot keep by Beatrice Colin. Totally absorbing. I'm absolutely loving it - one of these books that I'll be sad to finish.

EveryoneTalkAboutPopMusic · 30/05/2017 11:49

Barkskins by Annie Proulx. Only managed half if it so far. Am hoping to finish it on holiday this week.

SplitInfinitive · 30/05/2017 13:02

I am in between books and hate that feeling. Thinking I quite fancy a thriller - have Defending Jacob by William Landay but it's a big hardback so I need a kindle book as well for days out this week. Dilemma ...

catlovingdoctor · 30/05/2017 13:04

I'm near the end of The Woman in Cabin 10- I'm really enjoying it! Would recommend it strongly to anyone who likes a thriller.

tobee · 30/05/2017 13:36

I'm reading The Franchise Affair by Josephine Tey, as personally recommended to me on these very boards. Smile. I'm coming towards the denouement and it's good but some of the views of the characters are, shall we say, dated, and I'm quite a lot 😱😱😱.

But I'm also listening to The Girls by Lisa Jewell on audible. I'm enjoying that too and recommend. I try to listen to one book and read another at the same time but have to make them quite different so I don't get confused. Lol.

I was thinking of listening to The Woman in Cabin 10 catloving so good to see your recommendation.

I'm a quarter of the way through Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. I'm finding it so-so - I'm not 'getting' the main character and the story feels contrived.

blamethecat · 30/05/2017 20:38

Stephen King, it. Ready for the new film version later in the year.

YesILikeItToo · 30/05/2017 20:44

I am reading Dune. It started at a cracking pace, but it's slowed right down. I've enjoyed it so much so far, I hope I can finish it.Confused

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/05/2017 20:47

Nothing. :(
Have just abandoned Isabel Allende's Japanese Lover for being bloody awful, and I only have depressing non-fiction waiting (one on the Wannsee Conference, a book about Rudolf Hess and a book about the end of WW2), which I just don't fancy at the moment.

Eclecticmama · 30/05/2017 20:50

Iq84 by murakami. It's my first novel since having my daughter (14m) and going back to work full time, so it's a much slower reading pace than I'm used to. I could easily loose days I'd get so engrossed in a good book!

MsAwesomeDragon · 30/05/2017 20:51

I'm reading the storyteller by Jodi picoult.

It's pretty good so far.

fluffiphlox · 30/05/2017 20:52

The Poisonwood Bible. Barbara Kingsolver.

Sadik · 30/05/2017 20:56

Just finished my latest paper book, and have The Code Book by Simon Singh waiting to start when I have a block of time.

On Audible I'm part way through Adults In the Room - political memoir by Yanis Varoufakis the former Greek finance minister and finding it both fascinating and depressing.

Ellieboolou27 · 30/05/2017 20:56

Before I let you in by Jenny blackhurst, woman in cabin 10 sounds good.

whatiswrongwithyou · 30/05/2017 21:06

Swan Song by Robert McCammon, Post apocalyptic fiction. If you enjoyed the Stand by Stephen King then you'll like this.

junebirthdaygirl · 30/05/2017 21:07

My favourite book is The Poisonwood Bible so hope you enjoy it fluff.
Im reading Joanne Trollope. City Girls. Perfect holiday reading.

busyboysmum · 30/05/2017 21:09

Handmaidens tale can't wait to binge the series

katsnmouse · 30/05/2017 21:16

Eclectic I know that feeling! I am so slow at reading now, and have the attention span of a gnat since having kids! IQ84 is on my 'to read' pile/shelf.
user just finished handmaids tale- one of the best books I have read and definitely binge worthy.

I just finished The Woman In Cabin 10 this weekend and really enjoyed it, I couldn't stop reading it!

I've just a couple of chapters into two new books now: Stay With Me by Ayobami Adebayo and I'm Travelling Alone by Samuel Bjork.

heymammy · 30/05/2017 22:57

Currently re-reading The Solitaire Mystery by Jostein Gaarder but I'm not enjoying it as much this time around so I've nabbed dd's book The Giver by Lois Lowry.

I'd already decided that next on the list was Shogun (again!) by James Clavell but user you've just reminded me that I wanted to read The Handmaiden's Tale before watching the series!

I'm currently reading Hide and Seek by James Patterson. Reading is my escape, my me time usually while soaking in a lovely bubble bath.

Persemillion · 31/05/2017 00:37

Re-reading The Mint by T. E. Lawrence after a long time. Brilliantly bright and a great pleasure to read.

MsFortunaMajor · 31/05/2017 00:57

I'm reading Tennison: Prime Suspect 1973 by Lynda La Plante. I started watching the TV series a few weeks ago and I'm really enjoying it so I thought I'd read the book too.
