(5 Posts)I recently enjoyed Tamara Drew by Posy Simmonds, The Night Bookmobile by Audrey Niffenegger and another book the title of which I forget about a Korean American Gen Y drop-out. Feel like I am just discovering graphic novels. I don't fancy the superhero/ fantasy genre. Does anyone have any recommendations?
You might like American Splendor - comic rather than graphic novel but quite compelling. I wasn't into comics at all but got really drawn in to his world.
Then you can watch the movie and his Letterman shows (on YouTube). The movie is great.
Thanks will look it up
American Splendor is really good, as is the film.
I love Maus, the author Art Spiegelman depicts his father's experience of surviving the Holocaust. Incredibly moving, gripping and illustrations which get better and better.
I was totally wowed by The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage by Sydney Padua. (There's some snippets on her website.)
Very different, but I also really liked Are You My Mother by Alison Bechdel.
