I am absolutely devouring these!
I've just finished book 4 and couldn't put any of them down!

Anyone else a fan?

Yes me! Many thanks to whoever it was who recommended them. I'm sorry but I have forgotten who it was. I am on the second one now, love the character Max.

TTOF · 27/04/2017 17:03

Yeah I can't remember who recommended them either. Was someone on here tho- thanks! Wine

I like Max a lot but love Chief Farrell more ❤️

I love them but really really struggled with the most recent one, for reasons I will not divulge but expect you will understand when you get to it (she says, cryptically...).

BroomstickOfLove · 27/04/2017 18:25

I love them. There's a pretty active Facebook fan group. I liked the most recent one, but I totally understand LBOCS's view. I live near one of the sites visited, so I really liked the history bits.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 27/04/2017 18:28

I love them. I find them very funny and love the historical adventures too. I particularly like the characters and the way they interact and talk to each other.

Love a book that can make me laugh, then cry the next minute.

OhMrDarcy · 27/04/2017 18:29

Love these books! Like PPs I followed a recommendation on here for books connected with time travel and loved them from the first one. I was absolutely delighted to find there were so many of them. Can't wait for more.

FadedRed · 27/04/2017 18:41

LBOCS2 with you there, nearly finished it and know what you mean.

purplepaisley · 27/04/2017 18:43

Read them after a recommendation on here too - love them!

The audio versions on Audible are great and quite a few of the short stories are on there for free.

TheSecondOfHerName · 27/04/2017 18:45

I loved them; they were comfort reading for me, and I felt that I knew the characters personally.

Whileweareonthesubject · 27/04/2017 18:48

I love them. Got the first as a freebie on Kindle, when it was first published. It's the only series I've read where I find myself checking the author's website almost weekly to find out when the next one is due. When they are published I have to actively limit how long I read for because if I didn't, I'd finish them in one sitting.

purplepaisley · 27/04/2017 18:49

Thanks to this thread I've just discovered book 8 is out - that's my evening sorted!

TheSecondOfHerName · 27/04/2017 18:51

The author did a weird thing with the plot at the end of book 3 / beginning of book 4 which I was unsure about, which is weird because I normally like ideas like that.

HarrietVane99 · 27/04/2017 18:51

Another fan here. Great characters and some parts are laugh out loud funny. And as a professional historian, I have to say her writing of historical events is spot on.

I agree about the most recent one, though. Very difficult to read in places.

LosingDory · 27/04/2017 18:54

I agree about the last one...she's knocking them out so fast maybe she's just not taking a such care as she should over them . The early ones are great though

picklemepopcorn · 27/04/2017 19:07

Is it the time travelling ones?

DontCallMeBaby · 27/04/2017 19:14

Love them! Bit worried about the last one now - it's waiting in the ether for me to connect the Kindle to our new router.

acornsandnuts · 27/04/2017 19:19

I'm after a good read at the minute. Who's the author?

girlandboy · 27/04/2017 19:22

I love them! I have them all on Kindle, paperback AND audio! So you can tell I'm a bit of a fan Grin
Don't forget to read the short stories in the right order with the main books else some story lines won't make sense!

girlandboy · 27/04/2017 19:23

acornsandnuts, the author is Jodi Taylor

dontcall it's still an enjoyable read but there were a few annoying bits, it's not a terrible book, after all she's still a great author!

HarrietVane99 · 27/04/2017 19:42

Just to be clear, I'm not criticising the quality of the latest book, it's just that it's much darker in tone than the others, and that makes it tough to read at times. Somewhat more blood and gore, too.

Likewise Harriet.

TTOF · 27/04/2017 19:59

Eeek- I'm half way through book 5 (been sick today so laid in bed reading).
I have invested too much in these characters - I don't want too much darkness! 😬

She's writing a new thriller series at the moment, which I think is allowing her to indulge her newfound taste for darker storylines.
