Books you just can't put down

Hi, I'm desperate for a good book to get stuck into, one that you don't want to put down, but am struggline. The last 'unputdownable' book I read was 'I let you go' by Clare Mackintosh. I like psychological thrillers, dramas. I also like books where the main character suffers and overcomes hardship, such as A piece of cake by Cupcake Brown or Ugly by Constance Briscow. I'm also partial to a bit of horror and anything with an old haunted house!

I'd be really grateful for some suggestions. Thank you.

I read this after I Let You Go and couldn't put that one down either.

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Got given it a couple months ago, picked it up and read the whole thing in a weekend. Definitely includes drama and psychological stuff as well as American South and civil rights history.

I loved all 4 of the Rachael Abbott books, I read them all on a weeks holiday!!

I second the B A Paris book. She also has another one out tomorrow. Another book I also really enjoyed was 34 days by Amanda Waller.

I liked the Improbability of Love and did read it quite quickly, but wouldn't describe it as unstoppable, well not for me anyway

A book I recently read after stumbling across it at the library is Night Waking by Sarah Moss - totally unputdownable.

I would also recommend anything by Erin Kelly for psychological suspense. I've read all of hers (except the Broadchurch novelisation of the TV series) and they were all excellent in my opinion. Once I'd read the first I steamed through her others in a couple of weeks.

'What she knew' - psychological thriller about a boy who goes missing. Well written and the same vein as I let go .

Wow!! Just started B A Paris' second book. I am 25% through and it is fantastic so far. I am trying to limit how often I read it so I don't finish it too soon!! A definite recommendation.

Just finished ' The Breakdown' BA Paris....wow...couldn't put it down. Also 'Those who lie' Diane Jeffrey'..not as good but still held me. Also love anything by Mark Edwards.

Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough is a great read. It's an insanely twisty thriller and I literally couldn't put it down. The ending is the most WTAF twist ever.

The last book I couldn't put down was The Martian. Not my usual cup of tea at all - science fiction doesn't really do it for me. But as a tale of bad things happening to a good person and his struggle to overcome obstacle after obstacle against the odds, it was compelling. Read it in two sittings (and really resented that break to go to sleep).

You mention books where the main character suffers and overcomes hardship e.g. A piece of cake by Cupcake Brown. I also enjoyed that book and have just finished The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls. It is a memoir about a dysfunctional family and I could not put it down.

Just on to recommend a Norwegian crime thriller "I'm travelling alone" by Samuel Bjork. I just finished it and would really recommend. It's brilliantly written and gripping from the start. I couldn't put it down.
