I can see there's already a thread for books about travelling but this is for a slightly different audience. 20something brother who is going through a relationship break-up and thinking about going travelling next year. Want something reasonably light-hearted, ideally focused on South-East Asia.

Bit dated probably but might hit the spot; funny and should please a 20ish young man (I'm so fucking old, hmm)

Peter Moore's books are hilarious, again, a .title bit dated but not massively so, and his Africa one he wrote just after a break up.

Dervla Murphy's books are wonderful - well written and evocative

'Are you experienced' as above is always worth it, he will meet the lonely planet clutchers and this is a reminder that the view is always better if your head is not up your arse.

Tourist, not traveller. ☺
