Recommendations for books that help develop a healthier relationship with food/body image

Hi everyone

I feel like I have a really bad relationship with food. I'm either starving myself or feeling guilty about what I've eaten, thinking I've either been 'good' or 'bad'. I'm always worrying about my weight and my mood seems to be determined by the number on the scales, I feel like it's taking over my life and I'd really like to be able to just stop worrying and feel ok about myself. Does anyone have any recommendations for books that help you to feel better about yourself, develop a better relationship with food and let go of the guilt? I'd be really grateful for any suggestions,

xxx

Have a look at First Bite, by Bee Wilson. The subtitle is 'how we learn to eat', and at first look it seems to be about babies/children, but if you stick with it it's an amazing analysis of how our relationship with food works and ways to change it if you want to do so.

I liked dietland, it's on Amazon, it starts as a bit of chick lit but gets darker and has a definite message.

Thank you - I've just looked up those suggestions and they both look good! Any other suggestions welcome!

The No S Diet? It's about eating sensibly.

Decades since I read it, but "Fat is a Feminist Issue" definitely put all the things you mention into perspective. It's a seminal text on the issue of women's eating habits and body image. From memory, it's by Susie Orbach.
