Hello,

We're thrilled that Holly Webb, who pens the beloved Animal Stories series, will be joining a stellar lineup of kids' authors at Mumsnet's Bookfest on 25 June (do take a look!).

In the run up to this unmissable family celebration of literature, we'd love to hear about your most-loved fictional animal of all time - be it pooch or pig (or ... spider?)

You'll be entered into a prize draw if you let us know here - one lucky MNer will win a bumper bundle of adorable Animal Stories books including Kitten Tales as well as Puppy Playtime sticker and activity as well as Perfect Puppies letter writing books!

Thanks! MNHQ

Ooh that's a tough one. Either Black Beauty (I never get sick of reading it, it's one of my all time favourites) or Hazel from Watership Down. Just love him Smile

Orlando the Marmalade Cat, no contest! Kathleen Hale lived round the corner from my Nan and I have very happy memories...

Six Dinner Sid was always one of my childhood favs. I now own a tabby cat much like Sid, not quite 6 dinners but he does visit many houses down our close... Naughty cat!

The Gruffalo - love him, especially the teeth and goofy expression. But I also love all Julia Donaldson's rhymes.

I love charlotte in Charlotte's Web - such a caring, friendly creature who I hope will stop children being scared of spiders so they don't kill them!

My childhood favourite was Gobbolino the witch's cat - loved that story!

Has to be Rupert the Bear! Loved those annuals each Christmas, and the magical tales. Always longed to live in Nutwood!

The dog (called Spider, I think) in 'The Woman in Black'. I really rooted for that little dog and I don't think I have ever come across a better-written non-human character.

The Tiger Who Came to Tea.

One of my favourites as a child and both my DC love it now too. added bonus is DH changing the names, and occasionally even the animal

Slinky Malinki. Because my second son has exactly the same attitude to life. You could replace the words Slinky Malinki with his name and it wouldn't change the outcome of the story at all...

LionDog. As his name suggests, he is part lion, part dog (lion sized, with a dog's head and a lion's mane and tail). He is one of the heroes in a never-ending series of bedtime stories I make up for my kids :)

For me it would have to be The Very Hungry Caterpillar. My DS demands we read it almost every night so it's pretty special to me now. Plus that caterpillar sure does love his food so we have that in common!

That hungry caterpillar seems to be mirroring my own life right now. Except I'm yet to turn into a beautiful butterfly.

I have enjoyed reading it to my own baby now.

I loved Wilbur the cat from Winnie the Witch when I was little (especially when Winnie turned him multi-coloured) and I still love Winnie the Pooh and Piglet - they have such a wonderful friendship.

Although I must agree that Spider from The Woman in Black is a very effectively written fictional animal!

Winnie the Pooh. Just lovely.
