I read it in a day. The description of early years as tropical years (the dutch call them that as one year of military action in Mongolia(?) counted as double) really resonated with me.
I read the Guardian article where the author talked about her friend bf her baby for her. That thread went the way of all feeding threads ebf vs bottle.
Mumsnet would have a field day with this fictional narrator. Ari is anti c sections, anti formula, anti ivf. She is potentially depressed and is raging.
Whatever you think of the narrator, the language, the viewpoints or the author, it is still one of the most fearless honest pieces of fiction I have read in a long while.
