I used to read a lot but have lost my way a bit over the last 12 months.
I have enjoyed books by:
Jane Austen
David Nicholls
Jodi Picoult
Emma Donohoe (sp? She wrote "Room")
Victoria Hislop
Khaled Hosseini
Jojo Moyes

What else might I like please? Ideally nothing too recent as I need to use the library!
Thanks.

Margaret Attwood perhaps. I recommend 'Alias Grace'. Should be available in libraries.

Thank you, I read a different one of her books last year and enjoyed it so I'll see what others they have in the library.

Try:
Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks
East of the Sun by Julia Gregson
A Disobedient Girl by Ru Freeman
Longbourn by Jo Baker
The Mystery of Glass by Sue Gee
The Light Between Oceans by ML Stedman

All readable but not too demanding - hopefully will help you get your mojo back Smile

Try this site map just type in the name of an author you like, and you will get a map -the nearer the name to the centre the more close it it is to the one you like- I've got lots of good suggestions from it in the past.

Marian Keyes. She is a treat. You are so lucky if you have not read her books. Oh to be in a position to read her afreash!

Thank you for all the ideas, I love the idea of a literature map. I'm going to have a proper look at it later on and then see what I can reserve at the library.
I'd forgotten about Marian Keyes. I read a couple of her books years ago and loved them so I'll definitely look for some more!

This charming man is brilliant. I have just bought the woman who stole my life but I am saving it for my holiday. Smile

I've read and enjoyed nearly everyone on your list (except Victoria Hislop - never read her, and I'm not crazy about David Nicholls).

I think you'd like:
Penelope Lively (my favourite is The Photograph)
Maggie O'Farrell
Anne Tyler
Barbara Kingsolver
Wally Lamb
AS Byatt
Ian McEwan
Kate Atkinson

Thank you for the recommendations, I did enjoy a Maggie O'Farrell book last year. I'm very excited about choosing some books.

Have you tried any Alice Hoffman?
She's written lots of brilliant books.

Definitely Kate Atkinson (though read the Jackson Brodie ones in order or else it gets confusing). Life after life and Behind the Scenes at the Museum are brilliant.

Also Patrick Gale is really enjoyable especially if you love Cornwall. Notes on an Exhibition is great but I have enjoyed all his books.

I've never even heard of Alice Hoffman or Patrick Gale, will look out for them both. Thank you Smile
