In plain sight by Jimmy Savile. I LOVED this book and devoured it. DO NOT be put off by the subject recommendation, its a must read for everyone.

Thanks, I bought it but haven't read it yet. I was interested in the way the author came to the story.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen Wed 29-Apr-15 21:59:49

In what way funny?

IrenetheQuaint Wed 29-Apr-15 22:01:59

Is it not totally bloody horrible though?

MaryBerrysEyelashes Mon 20-Jul-15 18:48:37

nope - ( tis I the OP)
its GREAT, not too much specific about abuse ( that would be weird)but so interesting how he groomed everyone and about his early years as a miner and DJ - and how much mystery and myth he bullt up about himself

MaryBerrysEyelashes Mon 20-Jul-15 18:49:36

I see i mentioned it being funny

I think i was half through a post saying 'funny how he'... ( god knows what, managed to get away with it)

Obv not funny

MaryBerrysEyelashes Mon 20-Jul-15 18:50:21

oh i know - funny how the author came to the story - he jus thought JS was bloody weird, not like the rest of us

Really? You don't think this thread is a touch... crass?

MaryBerrysEyelashes Mon 20-Jul-15 19:21:32

you need to read the book.
it reveals a SCANDAL about abuse.

and its a very very interesting read

SaggyAndLucy Mon 20-Jul-15 19:26:22

I think not.

IHaveBrilloHair Mon 20-Jul-15 19:27:29

What a strange zombie thread, why are you bumping this?
If you accidentally said it was funny, why wait three months to say soconfused

SaggyAndLucy Mon 20-Jul-15 19:34:52

I fail to see how a book about a peadophile could possibly be funny!

MaryBerrysEyelashes Mon 20-Jul-15 22:08:14

Read the thread. I had a name changed in between. I saw with horror that I had said it was funny. I could not remember what o was svtuslly meaning to say.. And I realised that it was a badly typed post saying it was funny how the author started the book. I've corrected myself several times -read the thread

MaryBerrysEyelashes Mon 20-Jul-15 22:08:55

It obviously isn't funny that children are abused figs.

Yes, but it took you three months to say that, and even now you aren't posting coherently on such a sensitive subject.
Do you not use MN much?

GallopingFoxley Mon 20-Jul-15 22:43:44

I am HOWLING at 'do you not use mumsnet much?

Fucking brilliant. Not that that will mean a whole lot to you Brillo but it's safe to say that the OP uses MN a fair bit wink

This thread is weird. And totally crass. You posted strangely in the first place and then came back weeks later for another go. Give it up and move on!

MaryBerrysEyelashes Tue 21-Jul-15 00:59:32

I didn't have my glasses on. Can't bloody see. grin

MaryBerrysEyelashes Tue 21-Jul-15 01:00:25

I can't back to look at books I liked. See if anyone had read them. I often do this on this section.

Didn't realise that was a problem !
